Sitting Pretty in Preen

For the first presidential debate this evening, Mrs. O wears a dress and jacket from Preen. The look is from Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi's Fall 2011 collection, seen here, and previously worn by the first lady here and here. The multicolored geometric-floral prints used in this collection were reported to be inpsired by the Northern California Arts and Crafts movement.

I don't know why, but I have never been a fan of this outfit. And I was sort of hoping Mrs. O would don a new outfit for the event.

Very sophisticated and appropriate for the event. Have always loved this outfit. Did you see the famous blue nail polish?

The colour and cut of this outfit is beautiful, I love to see Flotus in bright colours.

It had a very interesting inverted pleat detail on the back.

absolutely stunning color on her. She looked lovely and I hope she and the President were able to have a little anniversary time together.

This is one of her better colours to wear. Looking very polished .....

I was feeling similar to Emme, wondering why I didn't "like-like" this suit. Then, it hit me! It's the blouse. Though it matches or blends with the suit, it also distracts from it. It's too geometrical/splashy-pattern-y/dark--for this suit. With another piece, perhaps those great wide-legged black pants she wore recently (and no jacket) it would work well. ...Since the color of the suit is so vibrant, I would've suggested a more subtle pattern (if one at all) and/or a more subtle color. ...Still, MO's style is undeniable and inspiring.

I like most of Mrs. O's outfits. There are some that I would not wear even if I can afford them. What is important is that FLOTUS likes them and she is happy and comfortable in them. She looks great!!! AS USUAL!!!

Hi Marcus Perry, long time no see!!!!!
Mrs. O was on the Steve Harvey show Wednesday and she wore a sharp off white pinstripe suit. Hopefully, Mrs. T can find a pic or a clip because I couldn't find one and plus I'm here at work so I can't go to all the sites I would like to find pics. I don't think it's a suit that we have seen before. If you guys can find video (maybe on steve harvey show website), watch it. It was a really cute interview.

I agree Nyon! I saw clips on theobamadiary.com as well. The suit was super sharp! As usual, FLOTUS was wonderful. Interested in more information on the suit . . . for some reason thought we may have seen it before? Thanks in advance Mrs. T.

I guess one person's "splashy" is another person's "just love." Interestingly, the blouse with the suit is the blouse that was designed for that suit. When the designers showed the suit, however, they turned the jacket around in order to showcase the pleat detail. Underneath, however, is that same blouse. I love the color and it is one of the outfits that makes me wish I was a foot taller and all the other things about Mrs. Obama that make her carry off that suit so beautifully and with such aplomb. Lord, deliver me from the sin of covetousness!

That's my Nyon! Famous detective of all things FLOTUS.......hey Seweetie! Good looking out, I'll peep it in a minute.
Looks like our Michelle is still feeling that nail polish. I saw an article on Huffington Post that said it has been one of the most requested color at salons since she wore it. While it is lovely on her long, slender fingers it would not work at all on my short, stubby nubs : - ) I will say that she has inspired me to take better care of myself, hands included. Barring a hand transplant, I'll never have delicate hands like her's, but I sure have improved the appearance of mine's.
Onto fashion, I still like the Preen outfit. The back of the jacket has some funky, origami like pleating on it that's so on point. FLOTUS seems to like items that have interesting details on them.
Just look at that radiant smile!

Thanks Little One! That's a mighty sweet video. Did I miss something, but when did Steve Harvey get a show?

Hey Big Sis!! How ya doing honey?! We must catch up soon, but I know that things are busy. They're busy on my end too. You know I have to hook my true Mrs. O peeps up. Yes, Steve Harvey has a show. I think it just started in Sept. I've never watched it, but when I heard FLOTUS was going to be on there, I searched my local listings and DVR'd it with the quickness. It was a really fun interview. Steve loves him some POTUS and FLOTUS!!!
Ok, not to toot my own horn, but TOOT TOOT!!! I have some pretty hands. They are not long and slender like MO's, but they are a nice length and width. I have been told plenty of times that I should be a hand model, LOL, but I'm not bs-ing. I don't usually wear color nail polish because it chips too fast and I don't have time to be getting them done all the time. I don't wear acryllics that often (unless it's a special occasion). Now, I wouldn't mind having that color on my toes. It's really cute!

As I'm clicking back to see if there's anything new, I have to say that Mrs. O looks absolutely radiant in this color.

Beautiful color on Mrs. O. The back of the jacket is really the interesting feature of this suit.

@Mrs 2S - That is an Isabel Toledo dress!
Ladies, sorry, I don't have access to the Steve Harvey photos via AP Images or Getty, which are my licensing sources.
