A Familiar Gown with a New Twist

The President and First Lady attended an official dinner at the Presidential Palace in Dakar, Senegal on Thursday evening. For the event, Mrs. O wore a Naeem Khan paisley print organza ballgown, previously seen at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2012, here. Of note are the cap sleeves, added for the occasion.

P.S. The photo above is the only from the dinner to be published at the time of posting. I hope there will be more to follow!

Update #1: Mrs. O wears floral gold lace pink amethyst cluster earrings by Alexis Bittar.

Update #2: Finally, a full look, from the White House Flickr stream. Gorgeous!

@Mrs. T, you are amazing! How did you even recognize this dress when it's barely visible in this photo and has had the sleeves added?

I was thinking that the print looked familiar, but never would have made the connection. I love this dress and also hope we see more photos of it. Mrs. O looks lovely in this picture, I like her hair style.

The added sleeves transforms the dress making it more sophisticated for the occasion – great investment. Also creates an amazing neckline and I think wearing a jacket or sweater with this dress would have ruined the look and less comfortable especially in a hot climate. Another brilliant design from Naeem Khan.

She keeps us on our toes, doesn't she? While I like the dress better without the added sleeves, this is a nice addition. It gives it a different look, great idea.
God looking out @ Sophie & So!

The Obama Diary link is simply including the official White House photos, including the one of this dress, which is just breath-taking. http://www.flickr.com/photos/whitehouse/9314666531/in/photostream/
