DNC Delight

The First Lady delivered her knock-out opening night speech of the Democratic National Convention wearing a custom-made Tracy Reese dress paired with J.Crew Everly suede pumps in rhubarb. For those curious about Mrs. O's nail color, People confirms the polish as Artistic Color Gloss Vogue in Grey Lilac. A fantastic ensemble from fingertip to toe!

Tracy Reese has been a staple designer in the First Lady's wardrobe during the first term, introduced when Mrs. O wore a pink lace dress by the designer for her February 2009 cover of People magazine, seen here. In celebration, Reese tweeted: "Thanks everyone for sharing this amazing moment! We are all so grateful and honored to have dressed Mrs. Obama for such a momentous speech!!"

"Signed, sealed and SHE delivered." Awesome speech. Beautiful dress! Once again, she took it to another level only how Michelle Obama could do it sense of style. Thank you Mrs. T!

Loved the colors of the dress. Not hot red or bold blue. The message in the dress, at least to me, was: red and blue together - but a softer red and a softer blue. (The soft blue nail polish was a nice touch.)

I watched the convention, and when the first lady came on stage, she lit up the room. She just dazzled in every way. Everything was on point. Her hair, makeup, dress - and most of all her speech. Such elegance, internal and external beauty.

This dress is way too casual for the occasion. The print, the cut-in sleeves, no way. Imagine what Jackie Kennedy would have worn to an event like this.

Please post the specific nail polish she's wearing when/if you find out. :)

As always, Michelle Obama looked stunning. I would love to know what shade of nail polish she was wearing. I loved it!

Michelle Robinson Obama was born for this moment.
What a dress! I think that this is the loveliest dress that she has ever worn, it is soft and welcoming and perfectly fitted to her shape, in my opinion. Her hair has never been better coiffed. This was a moment in time.

Absolutely love the Woman and her passionate speech. I hope America sees "there is a change" - a welcome change. Four more years would be so refreshing.

Michelle was fantastic and his best asset . She looks beautiful in this outfit and came across so genuine. I wish President Obama all the best. God willing he will prevail because despite all the setbacks he has been working very hard and means well.

Our First Lady always looks beautiful but I was holding my breath for this one and wow, when she walked out she simply took my breath away! Not only was she stunning and radiant but she also knocked her speech out of the park....full of love, emotion, sincerity. The love and devotion she has for her family and for the President is palpable. I know the President got "misty-eyed" as he said he might ;)

OMG, SHE LOOKED SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Everything was on point!! That dress is so lovely and feminine. Her hair was flawless. It had so much shine and bounce. Her nails were even super cute. Most importantly, her words were beautiful. That speech was so heartfelt!! My eyes were just as watery as her's were by the end of it. As the saying goes, Mrs. O "showed up and showed out!!" OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!!!!

Interesting dress. Absolutely "hot" and showing her body to full advantage while being 100% stylish and elegant. Worn before, it suggests economy if not actual thrift. The coral pink and pink shoes take it to another level in colour-language. In colour psychology this shade of pink is calming, non-threatening and lady-like, a ultra-feminine choice that underlines the "Mom-in-Chief" meme. Soft and pretty and sexy it is just the right dress to appeal to every voter: men whether young or old and women of all ages.

The dress and Michelle's delivery soften the hard facts of what Americans are being asked to do (besides vote for Barack): suck it up, sacrifice in these hard times--even with your lives--as your fore-bearers did, and if the American Dream doesn't come true for you, see to it that you work like a dog to create a better life for your kids. Oh--and smile through all your pain and the injustices or hardships you have to endure while you're doing it.

It may be another 4 years of glorious fashion ahead; however, it may also be a very long and hard haul during a time that may not see the upturn hoped for.

I really loved this dress. The construction was simple and classic but the fabric was very pretty and interesting. It didn't scream patriotic that a lot of politicians' wives on both sides seem prone to do-wearing solid red, white or blue. Love it or hate it, her style reflects her individuality. Sometimes I am not a fan of prints but in this dress it was very subtle and elegant and just pretty. Loved the pink heels tool. Just a well put together outfit. I am a big fan of Tracey Reese- I wish she would do lower cost version of this dress, I am sure it would fly off the racks.

From the beautiful hair on her head, to the gorgeous shoes on her feet; the utterance of her sincere words were oh so sweet!

The First Lady was AWESOME!! Her look was stunning in its simple, lovely hues; a soft red, soft blues, and a classic line. The way the dress flowed about her legs made a beautiful contrast- her hair, her makeup, everything, everything was spot on. Her words were from the heart, and she breathed love, and care, and hope- there has never been a First Lady like this, and never will again. Rock on, Ms. Michelle, you always do it right!

She looked stunning, but it was her speech that brought her inner beauty out. Her passion impressed me so. I take pride in the First Family representing us and I haven't felt that way before they came along.

I adore this dress and I adore this magnificent woman!! Her speech was absolutely phenomenal in every way. I'm still smiling. Her sense of style and grace was evident the moment she stepped out onto the stage. Immensely proud and inspired by our beloved FLOTUS.

She wowed me last night. Loved the way her dress moved as she walked out on stage. The speech was amazing, IMO, and her dress, hair, makeup, shoes, nail polish...it was a homerun. Very proud of her.

@ Philly - I appreciate your thoughts on Mrs. O's dress and her entire look last night, but I just have to respectfully disagree with your assessment of her speech. Yours is a somewhat pessimistic and cynical take on what I found to be an inspirational speech. I don't see voting for Barack Obama as a "hard fact" that Mrs. O was softening up for us to deal with. I don't see voting for fairness in our tax code, preserving our rights as women to choose what's good for our bodies and lives, and investing in our country in a serious and sustained way a "hard fact" that she was softening up for us to deal with. While she was acknowledging the difficulties in our country, I think she was reminding us that we've been through difficult times before, and this time is really no different, and we have to remember to keep perspective and soldier on. Life's not easy, and I think she was reminding us that progress can be achieved when we remain positive, united, and courageous.

"According to Fashionista.com the First Lady's nail of choice is Artistic Colour Gloss in a shade called 'Vogue'. It is a gel polish which makes for a more expensive manicure...." When you google this color it certainly looks like a different color, rather purple instead of blue-grey

I watched the speech on youtube yesterday and wow, MY Michelle absolutely nailed it. She looked absolutely beautiful, radiant and confident. I couldn't fault her if I tried. In fact, I was so touched by her speech that I discreetly put my headphones on and listened to it on repeat all day as I worked in my office. Obama WILL get another term and I'm done worrying or bleating on about it. Here's the deal, I have booked 6th & 7th November off work as I will be up all day and night watching history unfold AGAIN. I missed the first inauguration owing to work commitments but hear this I have already provisionally booked my flight so that I can be at the inauguration on 20th January 2013. Mr President, Mrs First Lady I salute you and wish you well and I will be there cheering you on and screaming myself hoarse with delight.

Her nail polish always make her hands look so lovely. Does anyone know where to find the Artistic nail polish?

Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:23 AM | Registered CommenterNicole Collins

Artistic Colour Gloss is a product out of the United Kingdom. It is reported to be similar to "Gelish", but more watery and colors are "grayed"--making them softer. Needs to be cured with an Artistic lamp or UV light and lasts for 3 weeks. It is chip proof and is "soaked off" to remove. You can see all colors on artistic colour gloss web site. Amazon has some colors.
