A Vision in Blue

Photo by Yuri Gripas / Reuters Pictures

The Obamas are hosting the Kennedy Center Honors reception at the White House this evening. The First Lady is truly a vision in blue. Stunning!

Update: Mrs. O wore a custom Vera Wang strapless cobalt tulle gown with accentuating bias drape and tiered skirt with feathered organza accents. For jewelry, Mrs. O wore earrings by Miguel Ases.

This was so unexpected! Breathtaking to say the very least! I hate to see them go in 2017! Sigh! At least we will have the next four years of greatness to loo forward to!

Oh my, she is breathtaking! Eagerly awaiting whatever you can tell us about the dress, Mrs. T, and those killer earrings, too!

Meryl Streep looks lovely. That draping and the fabric -- jersey? -- makes me wonder if it could be Doo-Ri Chung?

She looks better than any Hollywood star who has ever walked the red carpet. No doubt about it. And it's not just about the dress, but about the real, genuine person inside of it, that sets her apart.

Yes. This will go down as one of her absolute best. Better than the inaugural, better than the state dinners.....really, one of the BEST!!!!!!!!!

Have we ever had a more beautiful and fashionable first lady? I'm 70 years old and the only one who comes close is Jackie Kennedy -- a very different kind of beauty and fashion leader.

I get goosebumps just looking at this! It's stunning. What really makes it, though, is Mrs. O's smile. Such a fantastic photograph!

I hope she wears more Vera Wang because this dress is sensational.

Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:17 AM | Unregistered CommenterAnitaW

Gorgeous dress. This is her best look ever ever ever. It reminds me of my wedding dress and makes me want to get married all over again. This is the kind of dress that you never want to take off. Mrs. O needed better support in the stomach area but still an A+ look for me.

Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:35 AM | Unregistered CommenterMrs. A

Ohhh SNAP! This woman rocks a blue/purple dress like no one else! Drop. Dead. Gorgeous. They are sooooo fun to watch!

Breathtaking! She truly is one of the most beautiful and chic First Ladies we have ever had. This has to be one of my favorite gowns she has worn. Love how she accessorized as well with the earrings.

Fabulous beyond words!!!!

Monday, December 5, 2011 at 12:32 PM | Unregistered Commentercsimmonsmd

Good morning - Like you - I gasped when I first saw the picture. When you think Mrs. O. can't out do herself - she takes it higher. Vera and Michelle were made for each other. Definitely one of Vera's best designs. Mrs. O looks fantastic. She has raised the bar for future first ladies. This dress is perfect. Oscar is going to have to raise his game if he ever wants a nod. I suspect that Vera can make a few tweaks to make this a wedding dress.

Great choice.

Monday, December 5, 2011 at 12:38 PM | Unregistered Commenterpt821

This is first time I have ever seen a First Lady actually earn the title. Mrs. O does it with class and style.
