O Christmas Tree

Photo by Nicholas Kamm / Getty Images

The First Lady was accompanied by Malia, Sasha and Bo Obama to receive the 2011 White House Christmas tree today. The tree, a 19-foot-tall balsam fir, was grown on Schroeder's Forevergreens farm near Neshkoro, Wisconsin.

On the style front, Mrs. O embraced a grey palette, pairing a midi-length print skirt with a cardigan and suede boots. An on trend 'top knot' and hoop earrings completed the first lady's look.

P.S. As there's been so much interest, Malia wears the Chain Print Pussybow Blouse from ASOS.

A very nice, casual look on Mrs. O. I am sure she has some new, festive outfits tucked
away for December events.

Very retro 1970's! I like it very much.

Love the look on all 3 of the Obama ladies. What a lovely, fashionable, caring First Family and of course, Bo is right in style with the ladies. Just love the muted look of the grey and the girls look as chic as ever! God bless Mrs. Obama; God bless the First Family and God bless America. Thanks Mrs. T for all of your wonderful work...blessings

I think Malia looks stunning! She's going to break a few hearts.

Not a big fan of the attire or hair style on Mrs. O, but that's not to say that the colors aren't lovely on her!!! As for Malia and Sasha, WOW, what gorgeous girls they are! I love their sense of style!

I maybe wrong, but I think Malia raided Mrs. O's closet. The blouse looks familiar.

I'm not a fan of the skirt but love the boots. Malia's blouse certainly looks as if it has been raided from her mother's closet whether it has or not. I think it is too old for her, but I guess she is experimenting. And to be honest, I've seen teenagers wear a lot worse.

Bo is always fabulous, in his black and white! Lol! He really is chic, but I guess fabulosity runs in this family.

As always, love love love love Malia's outfit. I believe she is even more of a Fashionista than her Mom. I see Sasha favors her necklaces. I like Mrs. O's outfit exept for the skirt. I think it takes away from everything else going on. Did I already say I love Malia's look? She is always so well put together. I dont remember having that much style at her age. But then again I know they have a stylist and she knows how to dress Malia very well.

Yes. I think Malia may have stolen the show here. She's growing into such a gorgeous young lady. Thanks in no small part to wonderful parents I'm sure.

I always have a hard time wearing a fitted cardigan over a collared blouse so am anxious to learn about the designers of both.

p.s. The First Daughters are smartly dressed, reflecting their ages.

oh my gosh, love the grey boots! And I love what the girls are wearing as well. I love this tradition of welcoming the Christmas Tree. What tremendous memories for the girls.

Can we please take note of Malia's outfit? She's becoming as much of a fashionista as Mrs. O!

Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 6:13 PM | Unregistered CommenterArika

Malia's blouse could've been stolen from Mrs. O's closet but as a youngster, and in her defense, the bow blouse isn't limited to a specific age group. She's getting older and she's probably trying to mark her own territory. I think her shirt is also a reflection of how hip Mrs. O really is. It's like saying only little girls can wear polka dots. Some of us might be in serious trouble.

I try not to talk about the girls but I'm sorry - Malia stole the show here today!

I agree with everyone who said Malia has taken the spotlight! She carries herself so well. But there is an old saying: "The apple don't fall too far from the tree." Kudos to her parents.

Not sure if they are fashionista's...sitting around looking done or fanatically shopping for new looks all the time. I think that they have a great team of stylists that pull together some interesting and fashion forward looks for public appearances. I think we sometimes read too much into what we see when they are just like us wanting to look our best when people are looking at us. This family is so active, approachable and so down to earth, I can almost bet that theyin are t-shirts, ponytails and sweats off camera and in their personal space with fam and friends. But, for public occasions such as this, they always look polished and perfectly complimentary to one another- Mrs.O's skirt has all the colors of Sasha and Malia's outfits. I love the 70's vibe on Mrs. O and the girls are stunning.

I looked it up the other day and i believe Malia's dress comes from ASOS. Because i too love her look and wanted to know where the pieces came from. If i found the correct blouse on ASOS, then its in the $30 range but unfortunately theyre sold out of my size.

Four years ago you could hardly find a classic sheath or other amazing dress. Now dresses--thanks in no small part to Michelle Obama's choice to wear them--are back in abundance. When I saw this skirt I said: hurrah! Perhaps we will be able to purchase flowing feminine skirts that move as you walk again if MO decides to wear them. They are great with boots and she's got hers at a non-dowdy length.

This look is much leaner and less matronly when paired with a close-fitting turtleneck or sweater-T and rocked with a statement belt. What saves the ensemble is the great pair of boots. The blouse & cardigan take it too close to the Protestant-fundamentalist-simple-dress direction for my taste. I lean more toward the movie-star sweater-"girls" of the past. Bring on the skirts MO! Rock 'em the way you did the dress.

Malia and Sasha look great.

Mrs. O looks very motherly today (I'm not knocking it, I'm just saying)

And Bo, is perfect

I see the start of a couture runway model in the older daughter. She's lean, tall, beautiful, and carries herself like a high-fashion model. She's the first daughter, so such a career would be a no-no, but Move Over Kate Moss!

I saw the footage of the tree when it was arriving in the portico. Nobody was more excited than Bo! He just stole the show. That's a good looking dog.....Senator Kennedy would be so pleased.
Everyone looks really nice, but I'm loving our Michelle's boots. They look like the Maison Martin Margiela's on Yoox.com and they are fabulous!

The Vera Wang gown is pure elegance. Mrs. O 's gorgeous brown skin compliments every color in the rainbow. Isn't she lovely ?
