First Lady Mrs. O delivered the commencement address at Anacostia Senior High School in Washington, D.C. on Friday, wearing a robin egg blue dress, accessorized with a double strand of pearls for the occasion. Lovely!

Update: Mrs. O wears a Michael Kors Surf Stretch Boucle Crepe Sheath dress.

Smart, elegant & lovely just like the adorable First Lady in it, this is a Michael Kors dress. Beautiful.

How fabulously regal Mrs. O. looks.
I love the shade of blue, the simplicity of the dress, complemented with the pearls. Wow! Look at how she contrasts against the backdrop of the blue graduation gowns. Stunning.

It is simply magnificent to read and hear Mrs. O's remarks to this graduating class. The heartfelt and sincere message, and the faith and support that Mrs. O conveys are so moving and inspiring. She embodies beauty, both internally and externally, and we are fortunate to have her as our FLOTUS!

Gorgeous!!! That color, that cut! It reminds me of the 60's.

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 12:56 AM | Registered Commentermissann

I like when she puts her bangs down rather than swept back. This color looks lovely on her. I don't know if I've seen her in a color that doesn't, though. Classic and perfect.

The dress fits like a Maria Pinto creation. I wonder if it's her design...

The speech. That speech! So emotional and heartfelt. I am a fashionista, no doubt. Yet, there is a quality about this woman that supersedes my interest in her sartorial choices.

Picture of beauty and elegance.

Class act across the board from her choice of outfit to her impassioned speech.

I like this dress a lot. In some photos it appears gray but it's really a pale blue and it looks nice on her. I REALLY wish Huff Post would publish some more flattering pictures - they seem to delight in awkward angles and weird closeups.

Anyone know which shoes she wore for this event?

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 4:22 AM | Unregistered Commentercanyongal

Oooh so lovely she is just exquisite. The dress reminds me of one my mother made for herself in the 1960s.

Mrs. O can wear colors like no one else I've ever seen; I have yet to see her in one that doesn't look great! But THIS color is truly beautiful on her; she just glows. And I always love to see her in sheath dresses; they are her best look, IMO.

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 6:42 AM | Registered CommenterMsG

Just lovely! I can't help but prefer Mrs. O is these simpler outfits. She's always beautiful but I sometimes think too much pattern and colour is going on in her clothes. With these simpler outfits her beauty (inner and outer) shines through.

Hey Barb, I totally agree, she can rock a sheath dress like no one else. Our Michelle looks so pretty in this dress. It fits her perfectly. I saw some of the commencement that was broadcasted on the news, her heartfelt gratitude for her parents was emotional for a lot of people. One of our local newsmen said that he almost cried when he first saw it! It was so touching and quite inspirational, what an honor for the graduates.
Oh, I cannot forget, she's wearing those pearls....I adore!

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 8:02 AM | Registered CommenterCharlene in Detroit

Mrs.T are you getting nervous? your wedding is one day after my birthday. is there any reasons why Newsroom don't allow blogs such as yours to buy their pics? if so what a shame given how sharp Mrs.O was wearing that orange suit!

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 8:12 AM | Registered Commenterchrystelle

i forget to comment on the dress. it looks like the Narciso blue sheath she wore to welcome Greece First Lady except the V-neck detail isn't on the front but the back.
It is phenomenal how she has brought the attention to the D.C community.

I think this dress is Michael Kors. Look on his website, item #MKS10-B150U. It's being shown in white, but he sent this down the runway in several colors!

This dress is simply beatutiful. Love the color, classic fit and the pearls. Two thumbs up!

Charlene in Detroit is correct. This is the dress:

http://www.michaelkors.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod8190016&parentId=cat18009&masterId=cat18007&cmCat=cat000000cat101cat102cat18007cat18009&index=9&tid=P6

Shown in white, I recall that that light blue was prominent in his collection. A one-shouldered dress in that color is featured in his ads.

you are right Charlene, it is a Michael kors dress. here is the link to the white version.

Elegant and lovely! I just enjoy watching how Mrs. Obama's well-grounded nucleus of family genuinely ripples throughout her responsibilities as First Lady! She's confident, an encourager and a seemingly tireless mentor!

Mrs. Obama exemplifies a sound, graceful progression for us women, not a regression!

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 9:55 AM | Unregistered CommenterMs. M

Missann, I agree. Love the color and cut of this dress.

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 10:13 AM | Unregistered CommenterGeorgia

A perfect Summer dress! Shades of blue are great on Mrs.O. Everytime she wears blue, it's a
home run!

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 10:42 AM | Unregistered Commenterchar

An excellent choice for the occasion and complements Mrs. Obama's figure perfectly. I'd like to see Mrs. O choose more outfits like this one instead of the bare look that is most appropriate for evening events.

Agreeing with Barb, that colour makes Mrs O glow. Beautiful outfit. I love the edgy things, but this classic look is gorgeous too.

Tone flattering colour. Love the extra elegance her pearl necklace adds to the neckline.

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 3:52 PM | Registered Commenterprettiribbons

Proud to call her First Lady. Read the entire speech and it was wonderful.

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 5:11 PM | Unregistered CommenterAnniebella

I dislike this outfit A LOT. The color is beautiful, but this outfit is soooooooo boring, conservative, and old. The outfit ages her, and it looks like something the past First Ladies have worn, which makes it a boring, and very 1960's. I like Michelle in bright colors, and youthful looks which reflect her age, and makes her skin pop. This look is very Jackie O with the pearls which is a big no, no for me.

Crisp, cool, elegant. This look is a real winner!

She looks elegant, cool and comfortable in this lovely sheath. A marvelous color!

@ Mia Monte,

I usually agree with your comments for they are usually on-point, but not this time. There's nothing 60's or old about this dress. It may not be too flamboyant to meet your taste, but it's a style that can fit any occasion depending on the accessories used. It's a timeless look, maybe that's why many have suggested it has the look of the 60's; well, I for one don't go back that far in my tastes, but the cut and fit is very now, very flattering to her shapely figure. Maybe at another event she could change it up a bit by addidng more contemporary, over-sized jewelry with precious stones (or more affordable costume jewelry) and a cropped jacket perhaps. There are innumerable ways she could change the look, that's the value of having these types of timeless pieces in your wardrobe; no one can ever tell how new or old the dress is because it fits well in any time or occasion.

Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 9:28 PM | Unregistered Commentermszonian524

I don't know how any one could dislike this look. It suits the occasion, it has a cut and fit that is flattering, and it is timeless in its style. MLRO looks great in classically cut styles......so do most women. Classic styling does not equal boring. MLRO mixes it up enough that not every frock has to be cutting edge. Sometimes, it can just be pleasing and that is a good thing.

MLRO is my home state speaking to the troops at Camp Pendelton over the weekend. Check it out.

HEARD THE WORDS AND TAKE THEM TO HEART. EVERY GRADUATING CLASS NEEDS TO
HEAR THAT SPEACH THE FLOTUS GAVE . I VIDEO TAPED THE SPEACH AND AM GOING TO SAVE IT FOR MY 5 YEAR OLD NIECE THE HEAR IT.

She really looks good in this dress. She really should leave some of those prints alone. Sometimes they are just too busy. But here she is dead on. Perfect dress for the ocassion.

I love that our smart, beautiful, elegant, generous first lady spoke at a senior high school graduation in Anacostia! I used to volunteer a lot in that area and it is such a realization of all that the Obamas work for to have her grace that part of the city, to make that part of the city valuable and visible. Other presidential families flock to power. She empowers! She is democracy and grace in action. Her family embodies all that our nation has always hoped to be. Yeah Obamas!!

Monday, June 14, 2010 at 2:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterElizabeth

@ CMB,

You are so right, the First Lady's speech to that graduating class was so inspirational. I got so caught up in it that I forgot to tape it, and your idea to share it with your niece is a wonderful one. I've heard many a graduation speeches, this year's including, and I must say that most are very boring and formulaic, but not the First Lady's. It was very targeted and inspirational to that audience but it was just what all high school graduates (under priviledge or otherwise) need to hear today. Kudos to the First Lady, it's an experience those kids will never forget.

Oh, by the way, it also helps that she looks smashing while delivering the speech!

Very, very pretty. Everything is perfect!

Well put Elizabeth!

Michele Obama unlike so many, has not used her position for useless dalliances with self-important, highfalutin society types who think they own, dictate and control what and who's what-

She remains extremely grounded, important priorities firmly in place, refusing to be distracted by the shiny object or the lure of the superficial. She has not capitalized on her position to pursue frivolity or to ensure a permanent spot with the fake and contrived 'it' crowd...

I think of some in the public eye at the moment and how they furiously angle to amass as much wealth and notoriety as possible before their various 15 minutes of dubious fame are up; and I'm even more blown away by Mrs Obama-

I marvel at her effortless discipline, her levelheadedness and keen focus on what's really important: A solid longterm, far-reaching, positive legacy that will certainly endure and inspire for generations to come...

She refuses to participate in or fall prey to the shortsighted brash power grab and unadulterated greed manifested by some;

Confident and unaffected, effortlessly dignified, warm, open and a class act through and through, how ironic that she exhibits none of that poverty complex constantly on display by those who would have us believe that they are actually 'better' and more 'American' than she - simply by virtue of their race and circumstances of birth...

Mrs Obama is a truly remarkable and extraordinary woman and only in the most impressive, and pleasant of ways...

Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 4:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterSusan

Audrey,

What can I say..."you go girl!". Also, you rock. Well said; it's always gratifying when occasionally someone goes beyond the obvious commentary on style and fashion and expresses what many of us have said in the pass to remind others of what this woman (the First Lady) is all about based on her actions and how she interacts with others. Once again, thank you for reminding us and enlightening others.

I want this dress! Love the color, the shape, the fabric, etc. Want the pearls too.

Are there any larger photos of this dress... it's just lovely. I want to print the picture and tuck it away in my First Lady Fashion file!

I had the blessed opportunity of attending the graduation ceremony as an Anacostia educator. The speech was inspirational to both the students and members of their families. Our First Lady is AMAZING in so many ways : )
