President Obama and First Lady Mrs. O will sit down with Barbara Walters for an exclusive interview tonight, scheduled to air on ABC at 10PM EST. A first glimpse of the interview reveals Mrs. O is wearing a gorgeous chocolate, pleated chiffon dress with black velvet trim and an Alexis Bittar brooch at the collar. Of the first lady's choice, the president said, "That's a nice looking dress." Love! For those who missed the interview, you can find it here.

Demurely Devine! This is a fine color combiniation and the blending of fabrics and textiles is uniquely hers. This is a beautiful look.
I really need to see more of the dress, but my first impression is that I am not really feeling this. But things may change, when I see Mrs. O standing and moving in the dress.
Absolutely perfect. Chocolate brown is a hot color this season and she wears it beautifully. It's classy and rich in color and perfect for a holiday interview with Barbara Walters. God, please bless this family and send us some good news this year!!

So here's my problem, after looking at the Christmas tree arrival pictures -- why does Malia dress better than I do and I'm 30+ years older than she is? I need her to take me shopping.
Oh, yeah, and Mrs. O looks nice too. :-) I like chocolate brown and black; very rich.

Love the Obamas regardless of what they are wearing. I am not worried at all about this look. Mrs. O always shines brightly! She'll look great in rags. As for the comment on Sasha and Malia's outfit at the Christmas tree arrival, I was thinking the same thing. I need some fashion advice from those little divas. Heck I can take fashion advice from Bo! But, we all know the Obama women and gents have top level stylists that keep the family rocking some hot looks!

I saw a similar sweater to the one the FLOTUS is wearing at KOHL's today. Just to say it is an attainable look, ladies, even on a budget.
Agree the FLOTUS looks very tired in the pictures with Ms. Walters that I've seen. Hey, with her schedule, I'm not surprised. Not a fan of the belt color or of the pin.

@ Nic (pick) John: tawny beige, muted rose, and taupe pink lips are lip tones that naturally occur in the African American race. If a black woman goes for a natural lip tone, these are the tones and they are beautiful on ALL the many hues of our skin. Please pull off your sheet so you can see clearly.
I think Mrs. O personifies elegance in this dress. It is beautiful!

The girls are absolutely lovely! Kids can have fun with accessories and trends! I think it is strange that you would say they are overstyled, Minerva, but hey, everyone has an opinion!!

I saw the interview with Barbara Walters last night and our Michelle looked sooooo pretty in this dress. While I thought the interview was OK, BW seemed a little catty with the constant SP questions and remarks......good grief, already! What was her deal? I was ever so happy when our President told her that he does not think about that woman.
Anyway, our FLOTUS was sparking and her makeup was on point. I have to admit, black and brown color combo is not one of my favorites. But it seems that designers are combining colors and textures like never before and it opens up all kinds of fashion possibilities. I like that! Great job, Sophie, you did a great job with this one. Our Michelle shines!
How does being in the White House affect this family financially? I mean, for all the work that she does, Mrs. Obama does not draw a salary and the girls' tuition can easily run $50,000 per year. I live in Tennessee where $25K for a private , elementary school is not unheard of. After taxes, the president's salary is only about $300K. Who pays for her clothes? Who pays for the girls clothing.

FLOTUS Michelle can make a century-old sackcloth look stylish!
Black and chocolate can go together. This dress looked better on the runway. On Michelle - it looks a bit frumpy, dated. The additional jewelry (belt, pins) really didn't help. We've seen her look better so she gets a pass on this one.
Malia - great style. But she gets to shop in Mom's closet where all the best things are.

Your comments to this Nic John person was so to the point and funny, I was laughing so hard I almost fell off my chair. Good for you! This cretin deserved the "pulling off the sheet" reference you made. Do I think it's going to stop her (or him) from making future incendiary and riduculous comments, of course not, but at least each time this person goes off the rails, we need to continue to shine a light on her (or him)!

I've always liked this tone of rich chocolate brown. Love the whole look on our Michelle. Very fresh.

Lynn, you can google the tax returns of the O's. The information is readily available. The majority of their income comes from book sales.
The same belt worn twice in India cinched the waist of this dress, I believe. I like the somber hues and the peephole in the back.
Lynn no disrespect but I think you are "baiting" because that information is in the public domain. I am of the belief that you are being coy. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

The Bittar pin is exquisite and very dramatic on this dress. It might look better worn a bit lower however instead of tickling her chin.

That The Obamas are millionaires and the President has sold MILLIONS! of books in more than a dozen languages is barely a $100 Jeopardy question. And, the President's latest (children's) book, "of Thee I Sing" is the fastest selling picture book in Random House history--after only five days of its release! (And all the proceeds of the book will go to a fund for children of deceased soldiers. Just in case you didn't know that too, "Lynn." ;-)

That's a beautiful dress. I would never have put that belt and that brooch with it, but she pulls off the unusual with such flair I can say I've learned to rethink how to change an outfit with accessories.
It's difficult to appreciate the beauty of the outfit in this photo. I saw the interview and went "Wow"!.
