Excellent choice.

Bo in classic black and white.

WOW! An official white house photo! Bo's fur looks blow dried with hair polish and everything!
But you guys should check out his official "Bo card" on flickr with all the details. The best one is his goal as the first dog - "To make friends with foreign dignitaries"...Ha! Remember President Bush's dog and the biting incident!

Bo made the news in ITALY
I was just perusing one of the online Italian newspapers I read (www.corriere.it) and I came across their news report/photo of Bo getting his own official portrait - How kewl is that!!!

Headline:

CASA BIANCA: Ora anche il cane Bo ha la foto ufficiale

Translation = White House: Now also the dog Bo has an official photo

Photo caption:

Ritratto ufficiale - La foto ufficiale di «Bo» il cane della famiglia Obama, che vive con loro alla Casa bianca (Ap)

Translation = Official portrait - The official photo of Bo the dog of the Obama family, that lives with them at the White House (AP)

p.s. They used the same photo as we did here of course.

Tell me, is it the norm for the 1st pet to receive attention like this (i.e. portrait, books) or is Bo pretty special? I'm inclined to think the latter. I mean, look how regal and commanding he looks. I'm not complaining, the more we see of Bo the better. He's just so adorable.... a livewire but adorable nonetheless. I'd love to have a pet. *sigh*

Generally, I am not a dog personbut Bo is too cute for words. You know he is really mischievous, but you have to love him b/c of that face. He probably has all the Obamas around is little paws. I remember an interview FL Obama gave and she warned the girls to keep their precious toys out of his reach so as to "make him successful."

I have posed my dogs for photos quite a few times over the years. It's not easy to get one to sit nicely with a cute expression long enough to snap a photo.

I love it! LOL! That's fabulous. And he looks beautiful.

I think I might have to do an official portrait of the Tater Towers First Numpty. Otherwise referred to as TTFN.

As a representative of our country is it appropriate for Bo to wear the same outfit every day? Does he need a stylist? Discuss.

That's it. I need a dog.

A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E. Only after Barack, the very best of the Obama's. I'm in love with Bo.

Bea -

No, Bo isn't special. The Clintons' cat, Socks, the (first) Bush's dog, Millie, all got a lot of media attention. Heck, Millie even wrote a bestselling book!

Going back even further, the Nixons' dog, Checkers, gave his name to the speech in which Nixon, when he was Eisenhower's running mate, defended certain campaign fund improprieties. FDR's dog, Fala, was also quite famous in his day.

Off topic---but I wanted to alert that site administrator that I am no longer able to log in. First, it made me change my password--and now, when I click on reply--it tells me I am not logged in--when I have logged in. Help!

Two interesting facts about Bo.

BO are the president's initials.
He's half black and half white, a description that can be used on the first couple.
