First Ladies in Conversation

First Lady Michelle Obama and former First Lady Laura Bush participated in the African First Ladies Summit: “Investing in Women: Strengthening Africa,” hosted by the George W. Bush Institute in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania earlier today. Later, Mrs. O was escorted by Tanzanian First Lady Salma Kikwete at the airport.

For her final look in Africa, Mrs. O wore a printed tie neck dress paired with red kitten heels.

Update: Above, Mrs. O wears a Jason Wu custom black printed silk chiffon dress.

Sweet, easy, comfortable looking dress. Love the neckline and built in waist band. I like the fact that it’s timeless -- will always be in style and the pattern is stunning without accessories. Fabulous hair.

I love how this picture plays to the world, our former first lady and our current first lady on stage together in Tanzania. It says, we can be strong, comfortable with our political differences, comfortable with each other, and comfortable in our fashion choices. A powerful message for women everywhere.
Not many women can wear so many different fashion styles and pull them off with ease. Michelle’s dress on someone else could seem matronly, yet she wears it with confidence which make this dress seem very stylish. The red heels are the only accessory needed. A great choice for this event where the soft fabric of the dress makes her very approachable.

Our First Lady is just so gorg and so sweet!!! I love her!!! Watched the conversation with her and Mrs Bush. Fun and interesting!!!
The departure dress looks so much like the Jason Wu floral dress she wore to the formal welcoming ceremony in Senegal. Might be an entirely different designer, but the fabric and general silhouette - cut/sleeves/neckline/length is quite similar!!!

@Eleroy I agree (about the Jason Wu dress)!! Thought it was just my eyes! I like them both on her and love the red shoes!

Like so much about this dress: the waist, sheer overlap, just below knee length, the neckline, the print. Awesome shoes!

First Lady Michelle Obama has creatively established a universal image because she has been able to successfully connect with women on a Global level by using her not only through her fashion style but her keen wisdom, grace and love for all humanity! She is always combining her authentic classy style with her brillance with ease, whether she is in the U.S. or traveling through-out the world in Europe, Haiti, Asia or Africa.
What a joyous celebration of self-actualization our First Lady is to the World!

There are several glimpses of Mrs. O in motion in this West Wing Week video which was featured on theobamadiary.com. Even though you only see her for a few seconds, it's still good to see her in motion in many of the fabulous outfits she wore while the First Family was in Africa. The video is a little over 8 minutes long.

Mrs. T., towards the end Mrs. O appears at a dinner in an orange sherbert colored floor length gown. I don't recall seeing that outfit anywhere before I saw this video. Do you know anything about that outfit she wore to that affair?

Love the floor-length orange skirt - don't quite get the white shirt for the occasion, but she looks beautiful. Here's a still: http://flotusnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/94570498-51bc-3417-848e-081e70b0ac4e.jpg

Dear Fellow Mrs.O Fans:
I think I just saw that orange evening skirt in a Carolina Herrera collection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8gHBzVF2BhQ#at=15
It's a long (11minutes) video but the clothes are fabulous.
Mrs. T, what do you think?
