From Mountains to Jet Planes

The First Lady started her Tuesday with a visit to Wicklow Mountains National Park in Wicklow, Ireland. For the outing with her daughters, Mrs. O wore a green army jacket over a printed blouse.

Later this afternoon, the Obamas traveled to Berlin, Germany for the next leg of their European tour. Deplaning at Tegel Airport in Berlin, Mrs. O wore flowing black pants and a draped black tunic. A studded belt completed the look.

Update: Reader Stephanie has spotted Mrs. O's jacket, the J.Crew downtown field jacket, available here.

I would like Malia's and Sasha's dresses in a size petite 2, please! Adorable!

I dislike so much how Mrs. O wears those pants. They are HUGE! They look like sheets around her legs... you could fit both her kids inside of one of the legs!

Hello! I'm pretty sure Mrs. Obama is wearing the Downtown Field Jacket from J Crew in that first photo:http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/blazersandouterwear/blazers/sale/PRDOVR~19034/19034.jsp .

Tegel Airport, not Tegal.

The sweater is interesting - sort of a front twist pull over, but what's with all the pants?

Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 9:54 AM | Registered CommenterKathie

I wonder if the sweater is a DKNY cozy. I have about 6 of them in various colors. They can be worn in about 12 different ways.

I think I found the sweater: BCBGMAXAZRIA Enika Twisted Pullover available at Lord and Taylor here: http://www.lordandtaylor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/en/lord-and-taylor/enika-twisted-pullover?gclid=CPm-qMGl8LcCFQug4Aod0EcAcQ

I like the wide-legged black pants on Mrs. Obama. Nice look for her--she wears it well with her height. Her outfits during the trip have been very nice. Missing the bangs on her though.

The fashion story of this trip has definitely been pants!

Y'all should see the cute dress Mrs. O is wearing to dinner!
I see the Chancellor is wearing "flowing" beige pants!
Fashion forward!

Whatever happened to TBG? I never see him with Mrs. Obama anymore.

I love that second photo. Those flowing pants make it look like an evening ensemble.

Sasha's dress looks familiar. Does anyone remember whether it might have originally been Malia's?

I just love Mrs Obama in the black palazzo pants and draped top with a hint of the studded belt for slight contrast!!! It's so feminine yet so classic and cool. She's a gorgeous woman and she wears clothes so beautifully!!! Her clothes never wear her.
The dinner dress was GORG SoccerNana!!! I just saw a video of them at the airport just before departing Berlin and Mrs Obama looked like so gorgeous like a princess!!! Stunning!!!
And may I say again just how beautiful their daughters are!!! Just a perfect blend of mum and dad!!!
Beautiful family!!!

Neutral tones, black and white mix and match flexibility great for traveling. Love black top with the opening above the pant waist – wear it many different ways and even without top underneath for a more informal look. Elegant flowing black pants. Great family picture. So nice that Malia and Sasha got to learn more about their Irish Family ancestry, the country’s history and do some sightseeing as well.
Very fashion forward vest from designer Lela Rose unexpected look. Apparently we’ll be seeing more of these in the fall.
@SoccerNana and Eleroy - I agree, stunning black dress just the icing on the cake of a fabulous trip and answered the question about why so many pants : )

@MI Mom,

Sasha wore that dress during the 2012 DNC, the night President Obama accepted his second nomination; I think she wore pearls with it.

My daughter is about the same age as the Obama girls and admires their fashion sense. If anybody knows who they are wearing please post. The girls look so nice in these dresses.

Perfection---

Lovely!

They must have been terribly jet-lagged; getting off the plane without a good night's sleep and stepping right into their packed schedules in an entirely different time zone -- without any down time to get their body clocks adjusted-

Don't know how they kept the smiles on their faces and stayed interacting beautifully -- and absorbing new and extensive information at Trinity College--
I would have been so exhausted, forgetful and slipping up badly--

@SoccerNana, right you are! So the girls know how to shop their closets, too.

Mrs. Obama's black flowing pants would be appropriate for evening wear, but definitely not for
daytime or for air travel.

The outfit is okay. I would much rather like a straighter leg look on the pants. As for the girls, they look so sophiscated in those outfits. They could definetly be a fashion role model for younger girls.
As for the TBG, I do not belive he is on Mrs Obama's security detail any more. I have not seen him with her since the inauguration.
