Red, White and Blue

The President and First Lady hosted an Independence Day celebration on the South Lawn of the White House yesterday. For the occasion, Mrs. O wore a red and blue striped shell paired with a pleated, side button white skirt. The President did his part on the fashion front, sporting a patriotic red, white and blue cowboy hat. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Update: Reader N82 spotted a tweet from Brooks Brothers, confirming that Mrs. O wears a Black Fleece stripe top. A similar style is available here.

Chic, comfortable and very appropriate. I like both the top and the skirt.

I love how she appears to have combined two separate belts. Click here to see a full view of her skirt and a look at the metallic flats she was wearing (pic is from theobamadiary.com).

This is the perfect way to wear red, white and blue without looking like you're wearing a flag. Nicely done.

There are some good pics on gettyimages.com of our Michelle's skirt. like the pleats and buttons down the side. This top mreminds me of a Marc Jacobs tank that he did last year.
Gotta love that President of mine....that hat is killing me! Perfect!

Mrs. O looks so good in everything she wears, because she has such great style and taste, plus she wears the clothes, the clothes do not wear her! BTW, MRS. T, did you ever find out who is the designer of the purple sleeveless dress with cut-out hemline that Mrs. O wore during the G-8 wives White House tour? I've been unable to find out anything doing an online search.

Looks great! Is this a Talbots skirt? They had one this season that is very similar.

Is Brooks Brothers sure it is the same top? The shoulders and neckline are quite different. The one on the model goes more inwards almost like a racer back. It might still be a Brooks top but we may not be linking to the exact one.

There are some nice pictures from a couple of appearances in Florida today on Obama Diary. The blue and green dress is a repeat, but I don't think we've seen the floral top Mrs. O wore to visit with some kids at a Y. Very cute!
