Bold from Head to Toe

The Obama ladies have embraced one of the season's hottest trends - color! Each wore a pair of brightly hued jeans paired with bold separates for today's annual Easter Egg Roll at the White House.

So perfect!

Lovely ladies wearing all the colors of the rainbow. I can dig it. I don't think I could pull off all those colors that Mrs. O has on at one time, but she definitely does it well. The girls are blossoming into beautiful young ladies. I like both of their styles. If y'all want to see lots of video from today, go to www.theobamadiary.com.

The entire First Family is the best!!!

Our First Lady is so glam! Love her hair slicked back with the hoops, a la JLo! My friends call me glam, which I never understand...I'm always in black....it takes such confidence to wear these bold colors. I love how she just goes for it. She inspires me every day. Please let us have four more years of this beautiful family in the White House. My friend and her family were at the Easter Egg Roll yesterday....such a treat!

Glamorous and on trend. I love how modern FLOTUS is. Obama/Biden 2012!

I looooove the mix of colors on our Obama ladies! Malia and Sasha are wearing skinny jeans, and our FLOTUS wisely avoids them, but still looks smashing, fresh, and young. That yellow cardi is getting a good workout these days. More likely, she has multiples. My all-black/beige/grey wardrobe needs an Obama colorful makeover!

They all look smashing! The new colours are great. They just "pop." But you wait--they'll also drop just like that. Remember that paste-pink touted as the "new black" somewhere around 2001? How quickly it screeched, "Eeewww! So-o-o-o last year."

@ Alisa. It takes more than confidence to embrace the (ever changing) new every season. It takes money. Lots of it to do what Mrs. O does with clothes. However, the top-quality (black) wardrobe I've built--some pieces are as old as 2003--still works for me today. I brighten up for summer with soft grays, but the two Ts I bought on sale in moss and periwinkle to kick it up a little last year will look stale the second I put them on this year. But the black tank? Never.

That said, after this post I have Sasha envy. I am determined to find a pair of orange shoes. I had a 2-toned pair of orange leather oxfords in the early 80s that my students derided as "bowling shoes." Now I bitterly regret giving them to thrift. Lesson? Hang onto something special and it will come back again.

I think FLOTUS's pants are J Crew. They look great on her. I have them in red and love them (if they are the same pants that she is wearing!).

I wonder if Mrs. O's pants are the JCrew Minnie pant, they have a purple color out for Spring.

Love all the girls outfits, lots of fun in the spirit of the day!

Also I've decided it's time for me to invest in a nice pair of hoops :)

The women of the Obama family look like they are having a wonderful time. So pretty, so festive! Although I can't quite pull off the super brights Mrs. Obama is wearing, I have been experimenting with turquoise, orange and lime green a la Sasha and Malia. You go, girls!

I thought there was too much going on in this outfit. Pairing the sweater with a sun dress or the pants with a neutral blazer would have been more appropriate.

This pic just makes me smile!
There's all kinds of colors in each outfit that assures us that Springtime is here!
Go, Family Obama!!

The girls' Easter egg color schemes are working very well, but their mom is looking kind of "costumey". I think its the purple on the bottom that looks "off",followed by the blue shoes. Love her bun and hoops tho.

mrsracheal, a blazer or sundress seems inappropiate for the event. They were running around and playing with the children.

Love the colors. I like the fun vibe they display. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

Everyone looks so pretty! Mrs. Obama's outfit fills me with such joy and I love the colors together. She puts colors together so well! Gives me so many fashion ideas! Thanks Mrs. T!

It doesn't cost a lot of money to do trends, just an eye for the items that look like they could cost a lot of money! Granted, FLOTUS's items probably cost a lot, but the rest of us can do it too without breaking our bank. And who thinks that grey is bright!!!?? The ladies look beautiful as always.
