A Dash of Sunshine

Photos by Charles Dharapak / AP Images

Mrs. O continues to take in Johannesburg, South Africa, visiting the Emthonjeni Community Center in Zandspruit Township, as well as the Apartheid Museum this afternoon.

For the recent stops, Mrs. O changed ensembles, wearing a halter vest with coordinating trousers, paired with a printed top and red flats. A yellow Rachel Roy trench coat topped the look.

Update: Per The Huffington Post, the First Lady wore a vest and trousers by J.Crew, available here, and top by ASOS Africa, available here. Mrs. O accessorized with navy and gold metallic Bhati Beads bracelets, available here.

I really like this pants suit. She looks so smart and chic! I love when she is around kids. I love that the girls follow in their mom's footsteps by adding a pop of color with their shoes. How cute is that?!

It's cute how Sasha's body language mirrors that of her elder sister!

Though I'm honestly not crazy about the vest, this look is very approachable and probably helped to put the young women she spent time with at ease. As is a motif of Mrs. Obama's wardrobe choices, the printed top is a subtle nod to the culture she is visiting. I'm always impressed by the First Lady's ability to honor a culture without being flashy or cheesy! Also, I love the layer of color provided by the Rachel Roy coat!

Very unique...halter/top, looking forward to learning who designed it. I like the whole look! All those happy smiling faces in the second photo!
Her hair...I have said it before but it is just so elegant and casual at the same time...it really suites her.

Doing us proud as always. What a tremendous experience for her daughters. What incredible world citizens they are going to be!

That vest looks like a man's backless tuxedo vest.

Some of those girls are very smartly dressed!

I love this yellow trench coat, it reminds me of the one in the Dick Tracey movie. it's a sillly guilty pleasure, I know. My heart is so full from looking at all of the pictures from several media outlets. It means a great deal to this African Americam woman, when I think of all that went into making this possibility an actual reality. I enjoy seeing the colors that everyone wears, the various prints and textures are absolutely delightful.
This really is a dream fulfilled!

The vest and pants look like the summer linen suiting from J.Crew. Looks great with the shirt she has on!

I love the African prints in her outfits.

I am not liking the vest. It accentuates a pear shaped figure.
The blouse and pants alone would have been better in my opinion.

Here's the very cool blouse Mrs. O wore under the vest. (I actually like the blouse without the vest)

.....Note to self, double check your spelling before confirming post.....it should read, "African American woman". Oh well, let's see what tomorrow brings!

Ditto to the other comments. This is nice and appropriate for meeting a group of young ladies. I really like the African print blouse. The First Lady has an amazing smile.

Is the vest from J.Crew?

Not a fan of the pants outfit. The young ladies look vibrant in their Sunday-best! They really dressed for the occasion!

not feeling this outfit at all. But I love Mrs. O

Hmmm, the shirt by itself is described as oversized...I think adding the vest may have been worn to accent her mid section without a belt . The shirt by itself would have looked too baggy/matronly on her, looks like she may have had it altered....
