Yesterday Mrs. O met with the first lady of Mexico, Margarita Zavala, during a visit to the White House. Per the New York Times, the women "discussed obesity, diabetes, addictions and the situation of undocumented Mexican minors in the United States."
Later in the day the president and first lady honored leaders in the arts, awarding the National Medal of the Arts and National Humanities Medal to 20 recipients, including, per the Washington Post, "singer Bob Dylan, actor and director Clint Eastwood, painter Frank Stella, and Nobel laureate and author Elie Wiesel."
For both appearances, Mrs. O wore a violet dress by Jason Wu, embellished with french knot embroidery. The dress was last seen during a White House preview event for the Governors Ball in 2009, here.

Mrs O wore a leopard printed dress at an event last night. I have not yet seen any pictures. I hope we get a good look at the dress once it surfaces.
Isn't this the same dress she wore in the KITCHEN last year at the WH with concerns of "healthy" food preparation?...I loved it then. Still love it now. Cobalt blue with black polka dots I believe.
I like this dress she is wearing...I also love the fact, Mrs. Obama often reuses her outfits. It keeps any controversy about the way she dresses in high priced clothing limited.
It's only after getting my copy of Mrs O that I really saw the detail and work that goes into this dress. I love it, she looks nice, as always.
Did Mrs O cut her hair a little shorter??? It looks great. I love that she is not afraid of color and prints.
Mrs. Obama has truly been on a roll lately. And I'm loving it. Plus it is even more exciting that she is mainly shopping her own closet and putting a fresh spin on it, just like most of normal women do. She is an inspiration, truly.
I just love the draped details of this dress both when she wore it for the first time last year and now with the white peal necklace and short bob. Tres chic!

Full length picture of the dress and the shoes she wore on Yahoo.
Can anybody recall if she has worn a leopard dress in the past, it seems vaguely familiar.
Desiree Rogers to step down in March.

Helene, where did she go last night?
Should anyone be interested, the awards ceremony will be aired on one of the C-Span stations at 8:20 pm ET this coming Saturday night. One touching scene is when the elderly Elie Wiesel received a warm hug from Michelle: a perfect example of her compassion.
Michelle wore a leopard top as a cat woman at Halloween.
Mixed feelings on Desiree Rogers resigning. On the one hand is sadness that it may be construed that her enemies won. On the other hand, she is very talented with a great resume even before she came to the White House and will have a myriad of tremendous opportunities offered her where she will be able to break loose from the restrictive bonds she has been under during the past year.
I think this is my favorite of all the dresses Michelle Obama has worn. I loved it the first time---and love it again this time. I think it is very flattering and also photographs well!
I think it's probably best that Ms, Rogers moves on. It's not a question of enemies, but probably an issue of having a job which is not the best fit for her. As she stated, she has established The White House as "the Peoples' House" and that is a magnificent contribution.
Well put, susan2. I think it's a good time for Ms. Rogers to move on, and despite all of the drama, I think she did a fantastic job and I am sure the People's House will continue to be open to all of us.
Now, to the outfit. I LOVE it. This has always been one of my faves. Great color and fit.
LOVE HER DRESS SHE WEAR IT LAST YEAR TO SHE DIDNT WEAR A LEAPER DRESS LAST NIGHT LOVE HER BLACK SHOES TO AND HAIR SHE CUT A LITTLE BITE OFF HER SHOULDER.
Funny how lighting changes things up. It definitely looks more of a dark violet hue in the other photo/video from 2009. Here it comes across as an electric cobalt blue. I assumed it was blue since the President was wearing a blue tie (and BTW I was surprised to see that - thought he would have worn purple for the Healthcare Summit!)
Refreshing colours - like waking up to a new bloom in the sunlight.
I always liked this dress, but once I saw the deatils up close on page 163 of Mrs. T's book, I got a real appreciation for the artistry of the garment. The texture and fabrication ; simply amazing. The color seems to change depending on the the shot, but still it's rich and vibrant. Our Michelle looks really nice in Jason Wu's creations and she's wearing my favorite strand of pearls! Nice!
MICHELLE NEED TO STOP REPEATING OUTFIT. HOW MANY RECLYCED DRESS MUST WE SEE.GET WITH THE TIMES .SHE IS A FISRT LADY THESE LOW END RECYCLE DRESS NOT GIVING ANYONE HOPE . TIME to SEE SOME NEW, also a sign that the economy is recoerying
MY REACTION TO RECYCLED OUTFITS IS TOTALLY OPPOSITE OF YOURS MIchelle, I WAS VERY IMPRESSED THAT HER LAST FEW OUTFITS HAVE BEEN WORN BEFORE, IT MAKES HER SEEM JUST LIKE THE REST OF US, AND I LOVE HER FOR THAT. THE HOPE PART RESTS IN THE HANDS OF HER HUSBAND, HE'S IN THE THROES OF A HUGE BATTLE THAT WILL AFFECT ALL OF US.
I don't think it's the First Lady's job to show that the economy is recovering by the clothes she wears... if she was wearing something different every single time she was photographed, then people would say she's not in touch with the people who are suffering... Please... I honestly think Mrs. Obama just wears what looks good on her, once, twice, three times even. Don't we as women love to wear something agian if it looks good on us? I don't think Mrs. Obama is much different... nor should she be!
Keep it up Madame Obama - You look great as usual!
In my opinion, Michelle is offbase with her recycled outfit comment. In fact, the word recycle doesn't really fit here. Clothing is MEANT to be worn multiple times. I believe that all first ladies have worn their dresses/ensembles multiple times. We are watching Mrs. Obama closely on this website, so it is more obvious.
Nice to see this dress again - I love the vivid colour.
