Happy Fourth of July!

Photo by Jewel Samad / Getty Images

The Os celebrated Independence Day with an event to honor military heroes and their families at the White House. First Lady Mrs. O wore a streamlined black and white dress, with an empire waist and cocoon skirt, which coordinated with her daughters white sundresses.

Hope everyone is having a happy and safe July 4th! Update: Mrs. O's dress is Narciso Rodriguez!

RADIANCE, RENAISSANCE & ROSEBUD!
The President certainly has his hands full with these gorgeous girls...all 3 of them!

http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Michelle-Obama/ss/events/pl/050108michelleobama/im:/090702/481/2c77f0fd5df34e9491f50bf055e77a12/#photoViewer=/090705/480/cdd766ad13f849c58b9e5a96559c35f7

This dress Mrs.O has on is very reminiscent of the one she wore to the dinner at Downing Street with the Browns on their European tour. And although I happen to think that the puffiness of the skirt makes Mrs.O look as if she has a bun in the oven, I like it!

At times Michelle has a nack for looking very girly and innocent depending on the what she wears, and this together with the simple black dress she had on earlier in the day, accomplishes that - simply chic.

I love that both the little girls are in white. They look fresh and adorable.

I'm not crazy about that cut of dress on Mrs. O but I understand that it's very fashion forward and I admire her sophistication, as always.

I think Mrs. O looked quite radiant today. The empire waist dresses always give a full look, but they're also very comfortable, especially after a busy weekend with over 20 screaming girls at Camp David for Malia's birthday (per an AP article). Between this black and white dress, the all-black dress from earlier Saturday, and the sleeveless grey dress she wore going to the last Camp David trip with the yellow and white cardigan, I'd say this is a favorite style for her "Camp David" summer look. She looks super cool and comfortable. Loved her makeup at the WH 4th of July event, and her hair back was casual and chic all at the same time--just like when she was in Paris recently. The woman's cheekbones are to die for--wow!

What a picture!!! What a family!!!! I love Mrs. Obama's hair up and the girls look adorable and so
happy. They seem to have had a wonderful week-end filled with exciting events. Having them in the White House is a blessing.

What an absolutely gorgeous family! Here are some really large photos:

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Jackeens_for_Obama

Check out photo # 9 in the third set of photos. Michelle and the girls are stunningly beautiful.

I think the simplicity of the black and white with Michelle's pulled back hair shows her off so well. Everything seems really stripped down and doesn't distract from the beauty of her face, her skin, her body. I don't particularly care for the poofiness of the skirt, but Michelle is always into wearing new and daring things. She looks great.

Oh, yeah, their husband/father is pretty good-looking, too. ;-)

The latest two dresses in Michelle photos are going to fuel pregnancy rumors. I don't believe it, however.

The "ballerina" look for FLOTUS is just right for the 4th celebration, and the girls are so poised for their age.

I just love seeing pics of the Obama family...they are absolutely sweet. Watching all the way from Trinidad.
Love you guys!!!!!!!!!

They look so crisp, clean and happy! The Roots and Sheryl Crowe were here in philly along with an amazing fireworks show.

What a peaceful, stable looking family. Watching the event showed how effortless she looked in her dress, as well as very young. Actually Mr. and Mrs. O looked quite young and fresh yesterday. I been noticing a lot of dresses with that fitted top, and the poofy bottom, I have a few summer dresses like that myself. It's not a figure hugger, but it's still cute and comfy.

Happy birthday, Malia! It's also hot, hot, hot, in D.C., and they look like they're coping. (Anybody who hasn't lived there doesn't know how hard it is to look fashionable in summer. The air is like wet cotton.)

In my opinion that is one of the worst outfits Michelle has ever worn. It looks like she is wearing a white slip with elastic pulled up under her breasts over the black tank top. This is one time that perhaps a belt would have helped the outfit.

They look so happy,it's wonderful.Happy belated 4th of July!

Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 6:20 PM | Unregistered Commenterisbelle

The coordinated look between Michelle, Malia and Sasha works for me. You almost have to take them as a set in this instance, they look so fresh and cool: the billowy white, matching chignons, no superfluous accessories but the flower on Sasha and the flag on birthday girl Malia. It's picture perfect and looks effortless even though you know they planned it! Tres chic.

And can I say, I hope they wear the heck out of white this summer. They look radiant in it. It's now my official favorite color on Michelle.

I enjoyed looking at the large photos on yahoo. There were some really nice ones with Mrs O. She really does look radiant. Don't think she is preganant though. She has a high waist, and a high tummy, and the empire line emphasizes that........ But she does look great. That smile seems so genuine and warm. My family laugh and give me jokes cause I am so into what the Obamas are doing....

OK, BRACE YOURSELVES LADIES!

Next stop, fashion in Moscow, Rome & Ghana... x3!!!

Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 6:59 PM | Registered CommenterRocky

Stunning. Malia is getting so tall. She is going to be - already IS - a heart breaker. What a gorgeous young lady. And little Sasha - I just want to pinch here cheeks. And LOVE Michelle's hair pulled back & the dress is SPOT on fashion wise. For those who critique it, pick up Vouge...it may not be your taste but she is so on point fashion wise. It is refreshing for 1) a 1st lady to have such style & 2) to see how REAL women can take the latest styles & make them work in everyday life...even IF you are the FLOTUS. ;-)

I LOVE THIS SITE!

It's the 4th of July everyone, even the first lady, deserves to be comfortable. Love the laid back look of both the President and family.

Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 8:05 PM | Unregistered Commenterbrymac

This look on Mrs. O is absolutely stunning. From the second photo above, I find the silhouette shapely and feminine. Its perfect for the holiday and this look on the first family is like a preview of coming attractions for the Martha's Vineyard vacation in August.

It does look like a two piece skirt and top, but from the picture below you can tell that it is a very fashionably designed dress with an asymmetrical empire waist; the dress also has pockets, so comfy. As someone commented in a previous post Mrs O's fashion sense is not "traditional", I think she is very fashion forward. I an anxious to know the designer.

http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/88823184/Getty-Images-News

I admire the way our President and First Lady have embraced America with joy and laughter. Mr.O. looks downright dapper and the girls are so adorable.

I know Rocky its going to be an exciting week to follow Mrs O, three vastly different cultures.

New pictures on Getty and Yahoo showing the First Family leaving for Moscow. Michelle is wearing the Talbots dress that she wore on one of the magazine covers. Don't remember which one. She's also wearing a cardigan and belt. She looks great. The whole family looks very summery!

I like her hair too. It's pulled back but it's a little different than her usual pony tail. She's also wearing the double strand of pearls, which I love.

Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 9:10 PM | Unregistered Commenterbmw

And.........they're off! Here's my pick for the next post, Mrs. T! http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Michelle-Obama/ss/events/pl/050108michelleobama;_ylt=Agd017YZI3D_2lsh_GE07J_mWMcF#photoViewer=/090706/ids_photos_ts/r3334425213.jpg

She's wearing the dress from the magazine cover (was it Essence or Ebony), as well as the clear belt from Oprah Mag cover. I like this outfit a lot. I think she's going to be very demure and colorful on this trip, based on this opening look.

@Iva... thanks for sharing the video. I see that Malia's godmother is joining the first family on this trip, no wonder Malia's hair is twisted so beautifully.

Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 10:15 PM | Registered CommenterYOLA

The departure dress is the one from the Essence Mothers Day cover. The sweater is the one from the O magazine cover. The belt is the the purply version of the Sonia Rykiel belt like the O cover belt, but the one she wore to the DC Cares volunteer event.

Folks, can we stop with the pregnancy guesses? Michelle is 45. The possibility of her being pregnant is equal to the possibility that I could fly to Mars under my own power. The women in their 40 who have kids are virtually 100% using donated eggs.

Monday, July 6, 2009 at 9:05 AM | Registered CommenterKaren Anne

Love seeing Mrs O in this dress - chic, casual, comfortable and pretty. Just lovely.

Er, Karen Anne, excuse me but women who are 46 and 47 who think that they are beyond the realms of contraception regularly get pregnant without IVF. (Have a lovely time on Mars.)

It would be nice for people to stop with the pregnancy guessing because a) it's boring, b) if she is, we'll find out eventually, c) she already said that the campaign was their thirtd child and that they weren't planning any more children d) it's none of our business.

Monday, July 6, 2009 at 10:25 AM | Registered CommenterPosh Tater

The photos on Yahoo really do look as if Mrs O is expecting. I think its wonderful!!

Monday, July 6, 2009 at 6:39 PM | Unregistered CommenterKathryn

Nothing is Impossible, however I do not believe that MrsO is expecting. I think the style is to blame for that. I tried on a similar one the other day and I was horrified by the way I looked.

Where can I find that Narciso Rodriguez black-and-white Fourth of July dress?!?!?

Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 2:36 AM | Unregistered CommenterMsTK

I think this dress does not do any good for her, with the high waist, and the bubbly effect around her hips. Also I don't like the pulled-back hair. It's a "no" for me...

Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 6:00 AM | Unregistered CommenterEllen

This dress is truly awful. Nice flats, though.

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 4:34 AM | Unregistered CommenterChristen

Wow! All look great -- am I the only one who sees a ballerina look w/ Michelle? I guess it's the hair. Be neat if she was pregnant -- unlikely though.
