Cool Blue

President Mr. O and First Lady Mrs. O attended the Evening Parade at the Washington Marine Barracks on Friday night in Washington, D.C. The parade was first held in 1957 and takes place every Friday evening from May through August. We love Mrs. O's cool combination of turquoise and lavender.
Update: Mrs. O wears a custom teal linen and silk double bow sheath dress by Jason Wu.

I LOVE the way he (President Obama) loves her (Mrs. O) !
While I do like the color combination of the outfit (turquoise and lavender), I find the overall look of the outfit to be a bit disheveled.
Lovely as always. What an inspirational First Couple!
I like the color combination but the buttoned cardigan below the bow is a bit awkward.
I love the color combination, too, and her smile is lovely, but there's too much going on here, as Mother Carnegie always used to say.
I love the color combination, and I always love seeing them together--what a beautiful love story! But I agree that it looks a bit disheveled; I think it would have looked better if the cardigan had been left unbuttoned.
I also like the color combination, but not the actual sweater with the dress. The dress looks really cute and probably a knock-out on it's own.
I like the color combination. The way the bow is tied, it brings attention to her small waist. She has beautiful legs to boot. Man I need to get cranking with the pilates and exercises!
Mrs. O has inspired me to buy COLOR!!!! I would never think to pair lilac with turquoise. She looks amazing.
It is all wrong; colors, fit, length.
Hair looks good and she definately looks happy walking with her man.
I think she looks great in this. Nice Colors. Lately Mrs. O has been right on the money!
If the cardigan had been unbottoned, our Mrs O would have looked like she was off to murder the vicar in the library having finished deadheading the roses. It would also have looked sloppy and undefined and far too casual. Of course, if it weren't for the bow, it would have looked fantastic with a belt. ROFL!!!
I like it the way it is. I think I might have worn the dress with a shawl, but if Mrs O wants to do it with a cardigan, why not? She looks radiant and excited anyway. And that man looks very impressed with his lady. As well he might.
I have to disagree that an unbuttoned cardigan is the garment of a psychotic gardener. I think it looks a little sloppy as is, so unbuttoning might have helped a little, although I agree that possibly a different wrap would have been the best solution. But Mrs. O does like her cardigans, so more power to her!
EVERYDAY IS NOT SUNDAY...
...and after being so upset with myself for missing an opportunity to comment on Mrs.O's "Mellow Yellow" outfit - which I thought was very chic and little COCO CHANEL sans pearls. This teal & lavender ensemble together with the flirtatious way Mrs.O tucks her hair behind her ear, makes me want to tune in my radio to some saccharine love songs!
I would love to see the dress without the sweater. Other than that I love the colors and as always the best thing about what Mrs. O wears is her confidence and radiance.
As for cardigans not only Mrs. O wears them but many members of various royal families have adopted the casual cardigan look thanks to Mrs. O.
The color scheme is great. WIthout the bow, the outfit would'be been perfect. I have to say that I still like the look, even though the bow throws it off a bit.
But it is so hard to focus on the clothes when looking at such a lovely couple than manages to convey their mutual love through pictures like this one.
I like the cardigan buttoned. Really! She looks very fresh for July in D.C. And her hair looks great, too!
@ Rocky - I love your comment!
Cute, cute hair here! And, I love Michelle in turquoise. She looks so good in many colors--and this is one of them. I would love to see this dress without the sweater. I Lovely photo of the two of them together. I
Seems as if Mrs O's outfit is matching Mr O's tie. The outfit is very Mrs O, interesting color combination which I would like to try one day. Nice dress in an calming tone of blue with a lovely lilac sweater. Cute bow placed at the empire waist level. Overall the one button look is so runway.
What a pretty pairing - blue and purple. She looks radiant, as always! :)
I like everything about this look - including the cute hair, beautifully toned, gleaming legs and the tall, dark arm candy on her right - except the bow. I saw this last night and thought it looked like something a student made in Home Ec class.
The sweater is really interesting - lots of contrasting seam detail that comes out on some Getty and Yahoo pics. I hope we learn more about it and see it often. It would be great to fend off the chilly evenings on their vacation!
She should have, could have, might have...
But she did not. And thank God Mrs Obama continues to do it her own way. Bravo Mrs Obama you über sexy, confident, beautiful, amazing hot mama!
I salute you and your brilliant husband, my infinitely dignified and honorable President. Shalom.
Looks like this silk and cotton Moschino dress, now on sale (available now only in purple):

She should have, she could have, she might have...
But she did not. She continues to do it her own way! Bravo to my über sexy, beautiful, amazing foxy, hot first lady.
I just received several clothing magazines previewing the upcoming fall line and what I find interesting is that the cardigans, cardigans with belts, dresses with belts and cardigans filled the pages of these clothing magazines. I have looked at several clothing sites and once again belts are a big theme for this fall and even some summer outfits, which shows that Michelle Obama was ahead of the game. I am always open to new ideas clearly alot of people posting on this site are not and are critical of colors and innovations in how outfits are worn.
Does anyone know what time Mrs. O will be in Virginia today?
Why the cardigan at all? A Friday evening at 8th & I Marine HQ in Washington in July is rarely cool enough to wear a sweater. Why not the turquoise dress by itself? Why not a lavender dress with turquoise jewelry (great color combo)? Looks lumpy with the sweater, I think.
A pity , it could be a nice outfit without the cardigan ..
She looks amazing.
Those are great colors on Mrs. O. She is miraculously able to wear color combinations that most of us can only dream of getting away with, not to mention looking good in.

They are so lovely together.
Would someone, please, revoke her right to a cardigan. Yikes! what she's done to that dress.
The yellow suit in the previous picture is so lovely, simple and bright. Not a cardigan in sight.
she has done it again....New pics on YAHOO........
If that's cool blue then this must be HOT blue: http://www.daylife.com/photo/05hX5xu2OW3VR?q=Michelle+Obama
Mrs. O looks SEXY today. HOT HOT HOT. Surefire way to get folks talking about health care is having the First Lady looking so pretty doing it.

Gorgeous colors, and a pretty, pretty smile. I adore how normal she is -- relaxed, glowing, and not needing to make a fashion statement every single day. And that makes her my fashion role model!
Cute dress, like the color combo. But she shouldn't have worn black shoes, too dark for summer. Seems like she's wearing these black kitten heels a lot...does FLOTUS need to go shoe shopping? I'm happy to join her!
Lovely as always. What an inspirational First Couple!
I disagree. I think the Evening Parade ensemble was a miss. The look was a bit muddled and yet plain for the occasion. It's more daytime than night. She looks underdressed next to the president and the couple that was cropped out of the photo, walking beside them.
The sweater is unfortunate. And I'm not sure what's going on in the middle: the placement of the bows and is it attached to the cover or the dress, the excess fabric gathered at the waist. And the black flats. It looks like it was thrown together at the last minute, but not in a good way.
I think removing those distracting elements would've helped. Strip it down to the bright blue sheath and add a snazzy shoe and some jewelry. Like one of her bold, dangling 2 or 3 stranded necklaces, for interest.
The beautiful blue dress today looks like it could be Michael Kors. The material and fit looks almost identical to the sleeveless pink dress worn to the correspondents dinner. It is very fitted and as mentioned above....sexy!!!! Whew! Go ahead Mrs. O. Maybe she'll wear it again tonight at the reception for the ambassadors. 7:00 p.m. EST at whitehouse.gov/live
I posted earlier that this looked like a Moschino dress (with attached bow) that is pictured at their website. My post was apparently left on the cutting room floor in moderation for reasons that escape me.
Won't post the url again - that may have been what killed my post - but the dress is shown there in purple and is now on sale.
Mrs. O has changed yet again to a sequined black, sleeveless top with a maroon sash-like belt (like the Rachel Roy worn at the volunteer dinner event in CA recently) with a white skirt (slightly poofy skirt---not pencil though). Her hair is slicked back somewhat and her makeup is gorgeous! Love those divine dangled diamond earrings! She had on black flats or kitten heels, but I love the look!
.....The President made brief remarks for about 3 minutes and Mrs. O was standing next to him looking too hot for words! She looks so radiant....and she and the President look like a couple of young college kids sometimes...they both looked happy. I'm sure they both feed off of one another's energy during tough days (i.e., current healthcare battle).
Janelle, you too fast girl. I saw the outfit for the dinner and she looks beautiful. Do you think it is two pieces or is it a dress. I don't know. but whatever it is, it is good and she looks good in it. I saw the earrings as well. Talking about BLING BLING!!!
@Nyon,
It gave the illusion of a two piece, but I saw her walking up and down the stairs to the reception room and nothing moved. All the pieces were perfectly aligned and no adjustment was needed at all, so I think it's a dress that gave the illusion of a 2 piece. And you're right, the BLING was fierce! I also thought I saw a bracelet or some bangles. I wish the President talked longer so I could see Mrs. O's outfit more. I was like, "Wait a minute Mr. President, where are you going? I must see more of your wife's outfit!" --as if he could hear me shouting at my laptop. :)
Janelle,
I know, right. I thought they were at least going to show them mingling amongst the crowd. I was like, "this is all I get to see". Did you see how fast they ran up and down those stairs? They already have a pic up at yahoo and you can see her in better light because it was showing pretty dark (at least on my computer).
Mrs o LOOKS DAZZLING ....NEW PICS ON YAHOO. SHE"S WEARING A BLACK & WHITE DRESS FOR THE AMBASSADORS DINNER
I really like the dress pictured above. The jewel tone is beautiful. I even like the bow, but it was a mistake to wear it with a cardigan, and an even bigger mistake to button the cardigan in such an awkward spot.
Her red waist band (or whatever you call it) matches her husband's tie. Cute.
Here's some footage today of Mrs. O in VA in the hot blue dress:

Thanks for vid Janelle
Thanks for posting that clip, Janelle. It's great that FLOTUS is spending some of her enormous political capital and goodwill to help push this issue.
She looked absolutely gorgeous to boot. :-)
