Mrs. O Set for "Jay Leno" Appearance

It was late last October that Mrs. O, not yet first lady, was impressing us with her sartorial savvy on the Tonight Show, dressed in a full J.Crew ensemble.

When it was announced today that the first lady will appear on "The Jay Leno Show" this Friday, appearing via satellite from Washington to participate in Leno's 10 @ 10 segment, we couldn't help but feel a familiar excitment.

What will Leno ask? And crucially, what will Mrs. O wear? We would love to hear your predictions.

I'm not sure what the segment is set up like, but I imagine we'll probably just get a shot of her upper body. I bet she'll wear a great top, something with color I hope. I'm excited.

I loved this interview when it first showed. Now I have easy access. Thanks Mrs. T for providing it. I'm with IVA, we will porbably get to see just the top. It's going to be wonderful. Hoping for one of her statement necklaces!! I'm excited too ;-)

oh its just a snippet. Still like it though.

I read that she will be doing a short skit in Leno's Top Ten at Ten series via satellite, where she gives the top ten reasons for something happening but in a funny way. I predict she'll be poking a little fun at us and America's obsession with her clothing choices and "right to bare arms" or even "leg gate" when she wore shorts at the grand canyon.

Here's where I got my info:

I don't mean to be anti-mrso.org because i love it. but i remember the anticipation when the Obamas first went to Europe of what she will wear. I stalked this site day and night and celebrated with each outfit. Time 100- amazing! recent IOC outfits great. But the anticipation is hardly there anymore for her daily duties. I suppose another lovely shift dress and cardigan. i'm holding my breath...or not.

i'm just saying! love the blog. love the comments. love the fashion.

Ari,

I'm not sure how you arrived at a "skit" from the article you posted. Your description sounds more like the David Letterman Top Ten which, other than having a ten in the title is completely different from Leno's 10@10 segment. In Jay's show, he presents the guest with 10 questions on a variety of subjects to answer. As participants in this blog, we are primarily focused on fashion, but I suspect Jays questions will have a much broader appeal to his overall audience and may not include anything as specific as shortgate or any other fashion related questions.

I've often wondered if he ever gives his 10@10 guests an advanced list of the questions so that they have time to formulate their answers but they always appear to be spontaneous. I'll probably never know the answer to that but, I have no doubt that Mrs. O will have enough grace and poise to handle anything he sends her way.

No matter what she wears, I always look forward to hearing her speak to many varied groups or audiences, and I'm looking forward to this one as well.

actually i'm still with the anticipation. in fact i was dissapointed every time i came to the site the past few days and saw no new posts lol. So yeah, i will actually watch leno, who i can't stand, just to see mrs. o.

Rory, I check this site regularly. I can't get enough of her, not just her clothes but everything she does and what she stands for. When she came to London earlier this year, the hysteria was crazy. We Brits love the Obama's. I could still kick myself when I checked this site and found out that she was at the Royal Opera House, which is a three minute walk from my office. Damn !!!!

Anyway, I hope I can access her Jay Leno interview online. I'll be honest, I wasn't falling over myself with the outfit that she wore last time. Mustard is not my favourite colour but I thought her skirt was a bit too short to wear especially in view of the fact that it rose (somewhat) when she was sitting down.

My prediction for what the First Lady will wear: It will be a jewel tone color - maybe in emerald green or dynamic shade of purple.

Asereht,
Oh, right, right. I got it confused with Letterman's Top Ten part of his show. Leno's show is fairly new so I'm actually not too familiar with that part of his show. Anyways it should be fun and I still think there may be one question pertaining to all the hoopla about her clothes.

Blue popped into my head. But I think I'm still hankering after Mrs T's top when she was on TV! Hehehe. I don't mind what she wears so long as she loves it, and I look forward to seeing the segment. Very much. What larks!

She will wear as she always does.. what she loves and feels comfortable in and she will look absolutely FANTASTIC for that very fact :)))))) Love her and anything and everything she wears.

I think she will wear something in purple or scarlet with her usual accessory.....brooch, and because we will get an upper body shot during the interview it will be something very striking.

watch for a change in her hair style since her last appearance. :)

I didn't even realize, but Mrs. O made an appearance at the Dept. of Veterans Affiars today. Very chic in basic black and white with pearls: http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Michelle-Obama/ss/events/pl/050108michelleobama;_ylt=AsblzPdwNyvNCaL_900M1lzBaMYA#photoViewer=/091020/480/7319a3c8ffd94a03a5306acdff859aa7

I LOVE the outfit FLOTUS has on today. One could never go wrong with a simple black and white outfit.

Ditto, every work Mia Monte says above, You beat me to it! I especially like how the V-neck on the blouse follows the V-neck on the cardigan. It really sets off the pearls too. Flawless.

I love the outfit today even though I can only see the top. That v-neck is so cute on her. And her hair and makeup is on point, as usual!

@Rory:

It's okay! Most of us don't wear exciting clothes on a day to day basis -- at least, I sure don't! So I don't expect Mrs. O to be much different from us in that regard. If you want something to think about, though, imagine what Mrs. O might wear to the Nobel ceremony. It is a very formal event -- morning dress or white tie and tails for the men -- so if she goes she will surely wear a gown that will have us talking.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 1:25 PM | Registered CommenterChristina

Mrs. O has proven herself on too many occasions to be the Master (oophs-make that Mistress) of surprise for me to attempt to predict what she will wear, but I will venture a guess that it will have highcolor rather than black or white. Wearing black and/or white-- especially if you are a black women--makes it especially difficult for even the most sophisticated of cameras to know what to focus on, probably more so since they will be using remote rather than in-studio cameras. Oprah tells her guests and audience to always wear colors when appearing on her show for that very reason.

More than what she will wear, I'm wondering what type of access the Leno Show will be given in terms of location? Will she be filmed in the WH media room, the WH grounds, or in one of the more public rooms? I'd love to get a wee glimpse of how they have decorated the family quarters since moving in but I guess that's too much to hope for.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 2:14 PM | Registered CommenterAsereht

Does Mrs. O get the full hour for the Jay Leno show? That would be fabulous!

And for the Nobel Ceremony, I envision an updo.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 4:25 PM | Registered CommenterBevi

Bevi,

No, unfortunately she will not get the full hour. The 10@10 segment is a play on words. The new segment was created when NBC moved his show from 11:30 to 10PM. The segment name focuses the fact that he's now on in the earlier primetime slot. She'll get 10--rapid fire--questions, and depending on her answers--usually brief, and yes, sometimes funny-- the entire segment will be over in 10 minutes, or less. He usually does a tight shoulders //head shot, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for a bit more.

Mrs Obama will be elegant as usual. She enjoys being a role model for all women and

that we don't need to over dress. Simple and well co-ordinated is usually her statement.

I wish I had her role model hair styles when I was growing up. She has taught me that

I don't need to spend hours on my hair. Just relax, brush hair up-sweep or just back in

a knot is great with the right accessories. I'm a huge fan. Thanks Mrs O. (another) Mrs. T.

Frankly, I don't care what he asks her....it is just wonderful to have her on and to have a chance to see her and to listen to her. She is a treat.
