Giving Thanks

Photo by Leslie E. Kossoff-Pool/Getty Images

First Lady Mrs. O and her daughter Malia volunteered at Martha's Table in Washington, D.C. today, delivering turkeys and Thanksgiving accoutrements to needy families. Per the Martha's Table website:

Martha's Table's mission is to help at-risk children, youth, families and individuals in our community improve their lives by providing educational programs, food, clothing and enrichment opportunities.

For the appearance, Mrs. O layered ivory knit tops with a purple embellished scarf. Perhaps another gem from Prova? Indeed! Mrs. O wears a lilac “burn-out” silk Prova scarf with gunmetal beaded fringe and white pom pom fringe.

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving dear readers! I hope everyone is sharing this holiday with family, friends and loved ones. I am grateful for all of you, and all that you bring to this blog in celebration of our remarkable first lady. xoxo Mrs. T

Two lovely ladies and a mother teaching her daughter about giving. Malia is really booming. Lovely and unusual scarf.

I'm so greatful that we have an unselfish family in the Whitehouse. I was thinking the exact same thing, SERVICE on Thanksgiving. Malia is such a beauty already.

Beautiful mother and daughter. I love that the Obama's have passed on the idea of service to both their children.

The President and First Lady are indeed raising some fine young ladies! I love the layering of different fabrics on both mother and daughter. And the scarf just like the one from the mosque in Indonesia has very nice details.

They are of course their own unique family, but this is one more thing that does remind me of the Kennedys. The whole idea of instilling giving back in your kids. The Kennedys have done so much in the way of community service in so many areas from public service to the arts to the disabled, veterans and the environment. It's WONDERFUL to have this example in the White House. I know this family will continue being a gift to our country long after they are no longer living in the White House. I know the Obamas will be with us a long time and do great work like the Kennedys, the Clintons, The Carters. Looking forward to it as much as I relish their precious time in the White House now. A beautiful family inside and out and I pray for them daily.
