Mrs. O in Good Housekeeping

PRNewsFoto/Good Housekeeping

The first lady is on the cover of Good Housekeeping's May 125th anniversary issue, wearing a teal wrap dress, accessorized with a classic strand of pearls. The first lady's Garavelli diamond flower pin - a gift from the president - adds a touch of sparkle and personal sentiment. Lovely!

Update: Mrs. O wears a Michael Kors Marine Stretch Matte Jersey Starlet sheath dress on her cover of Good Housekeeping

In Melon Michael Kors

The first lady visted the United States Trade Representatives office in Washington, D.C. this afternoon, dressed in a Michael Kors sleeveless doubleface sheath dress -- the color of which was officially described as "melon" -- paired with a white cardigan and snakeskin heels. Lovely!

Mrs. O in People

The first lady is featured in this week's issue of People magazine, wearing a Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2010 red rose print stretch cade shift dress. A peek of the dress can also be seen here. Fingers crossed the story and photos will be available online. Has anyone seen it yet?

Update: Though the story is not yet online, Jezebel.com has a good overview here. Thank you Britt, for the tip.

A Staple Suit

Image used with kind permission from Small Dog Electronics

I thought we could use a new post to tide us over until Mrs. O is back on the official first lady circuit in Washington. Though a bit after the fact, I recently received permission from a photographer to feature a photo of Mrs. O taken at a White House holiday reception on December 7. It's notable because it gives us another look at Mrs. O's Michael Kors gold lurex suit jacket and pencil skirt.

For those keeping count, Mrs. O has worn at least three of these Michael Kors suits, including the red silk shantung and yellow lacquered boucle versions shown below. It's interesting to see how different fabrics can take the same suit through various seasons.

A White House Christmas

Hooray for the White House Flickr page, which has released new photos from various White House events held over the past month. Below we'll share our favorites, which include first looks at a few new Mrs. O frocks.

The president and first lady descend the grand staircase at the White House, to attend the "Christmas in Washington" event on December 13th.  For the occasion, Mrs. O chose a pleated jersey dress by Isabel Toledo ("very Marilyn Monroe" in the designer's words).

On December 4th, the president and first lady met Edith Childs of Greenwood, S.C.. Ms. Childs coined the phrase, "Fired Up! Read To Go!" which became the chant of the Obama campaign. Mrs. O wore a Michael Kors Gold Silk Lurex suit jacket and matching pencil skirt for the event. To note, we've seen the first lady wear the same ensemble in bold yellow and metallic red for prior events.

Above, Mrs. O greeted guests during a holiday reception on December 15th. The first lady wore an emerald green Jason Wu cocktail dress with layered fan detailing through the skirt. The dress is from the designer's Spring 2009 collection, seen here.
