Blue Belle

The President and First Lady hosted a dinner for members of the US armed forces who served in Iraq and Afghanistan at the White House last evening. Mrs. O wore a floor length blue gown by Jason Wu and earrings by Suzanna Dai, available at Fragments. Gorgeous!

Wow!!! She is beautiful, graceful and blue is her color!!!

Lovely! Hopefully the White House has learned to always make sure a good, full-length photo is available to avoid the unfortunate, mid-serious-conversation shot like the one from the Governors' dinner.

Blue is such a beautiful color on her. It makes her look so radiant, elegant, and gorgeous... not that she's not beautiful when she's not wearing blue!

She looks great but she was a knock out Sunday at the Governor's Dinner. I think N. Khan is responsible for her best looks!!!
Cant wait for the State Dinner coming soon.

Would love to see the other dress from Gov's dinner, but this flowing gown looks lovely on her. It seems to be a shaded blue but hard to tell with those lights.

Yet another home run! This woman just keeps getting more and more gorgeous.

She went simple---in democratic blue. Fitting for the event. I want to say thank you to all of our women and men who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Welcome home.

FLOTUS-Stunning. POTUS-Dashing Obama 2012!

She looks absolutely fabulously gorgeous. The color should be her signature color!
Earrings, hair boffo!

@Emmebelle, I just cannot wait. Especially because Samantha Cameron is also very stylish and I know she will bring her A+ game! I'm looking forward to the type of sartorial politics we saw with the Carla Bruni meetings.

Thank you Mrs. T! You continue to brighten my day--everyday with your posts! I appreciate every picture; a present to me everyday! Mrs. O is beautiful!

I agree this should be her signature color! Mrs O looks so elegant in this flowing gown.

Mrs T, please delete the "Shonnie" comment, it does not add any value, thanks!

Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 3:05 PM | Registered Commenterboazwife

Aw leave the Shonnie comment. Say: YES WE ARE! The end. Move on.

So ultra classic. One of her most stunning looks yet (and FLOTUS never runs out of stunners).

How very odd. I have a Linda Lundstrom (Canadian designer) from 1980 that is uncannily similar this dress, though the colour is dialed down to a smokier shade. I've never thrown it out and wore it again about 5 years ago for a 25th wedding anniversary. I was the soloist at the wedding and had worn that dress. Lesson? Don't throw away your classics. (And be able to fit into them 30+ years later.)

She is the picture of elegance! What a lovely lady, gorgeous dress and of course our President looks absolutelly dashing. God bless Mrs. Obama, God bless our President and First Family and God bless America.

Regardless of one's political views, I think it would be very difficult to see Mrs. Obama as anything but beautiful in these photos. She looks great!

This dress? F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!
The dress from the Gov's Dinner? F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!
Two Grand Slams!

My gracious, this is just so lovely. The gown just flows with her. She looks so happy holding her husband's hand. What a beautiful woman and mother and First Lady!

I love, LOVE FLOTUS and POTUS. They are beautiful both inside and out. I love that FLOTUS kept it simple yet elegant and sweet. The veteran cause is very close to her heart and she just let them shine here and have their moment as the nation shows its gratitude for their service. Excellent:-)

It cannot be underestimated what our First Lady has done for Jason Wu. What an American success story! I LOVE this dress on Mrs. Obama. Just stunning length, color, shape. I love the sheerness of the top. It's just a beautiful dress on a beautiful woman. She looks stunning. She must just knock people out at these dinner.

Oh my, she is really on a roll this week with three splendid looks starting with the Naeem Khan!

Friday, March 2, 2012 at 2:37 PM | Unregistered Commentera MI Mom

This is a wonderful dress for this dinner. She looks beautiful, but the dress is of a more simple design then some of the other formal dresses she has worn--and that's as it should be--the emphasis was to be on the guests. Love this color. She is a wonderful example to us all.

When I saw our FLOTUS in this gown I gasped. Mrs. O has been very determined in her desire to help our military families - she is to be commended and admired.

Friday, March 2, 2012 at 7:13 PM | Registered CommenterBevi

Lovely gown...great color! But I'm a bit confused as to the President's celebration since it has now become apparent that our brave warriors (veterans) will be seeing a huge cutback in what the government "allows" them for the health care coverage they are entitled to. This will, of course, force them to participate in a much cheaper government program also known as Medicaid. Very, very sad indeed.

This look is absolute perfection. Gorgeous! Should make the best of the year list!

I don't think it gets any better.....this is amazing!

Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterKywstgal

No, Bevi, she ain't helpin' the troops. She (and her husband) are cutting out 1/2 the funding from our Tricare while not touching one iota of the entitlement programs. I know; my husband served for 25 years.

Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 2:42 PM | Unregistered CommenterLorene

First of all tricia and lorene, this is not a political blog, this is a fashion blog. However, if you're going to speak of political issues maybe you should come with facts and sources to back up your dubious claims. Listening to faux news and rush all day does not qualify. There is more than enough evidence and actual policy that proves that the President and the First Lady deeply care about veterans and our military. They do not just talk to put on a political show, but follow through with actions.

The President sure has a funny way of "not helping the troops." I mean, signing in to law the "Vow to Hire Heroes Act" in Nov. 2011 is definitely not going to help the troops. Or providing tax credits to businesses to hire unemployed veterans will definitely not help, you know because people LOVE paying taxes, especially rich people. Or what about the recovery act providing $1.4 billion to improve the VA? Hell NO, that definitely isn't helping. Oh and I'm sure there are no senior veterans(or their loved ones) that are benefiting from the ACA. They're definitely not part of the nearly 3.6 million Medicare recipients who saved damn near $2.1 billion on their prescription drugs in 2011 because of the donut hole discounts . Nope, no help what so ever!! And it doesn't help that the First Lady and Second Lady go around the country honoring military families. Shining a spotlight on all the sacrifices that they make for their country. That doesn't help at all. Creating Joining Forces and urging non-military citizens to help anyway they can is frivolous. UGH, I mean really, when are they really going to start helping them!!

LMAO, people it's ok to read and to do your own research about issues. It wasn't that hard at all. The President and First Lady like to keep the people informed about what they're doing and the policies that he is implementing. Visit www.whitehouse.gov, it has tons of information. I'm sure you will find plenty of info that Faux news never told you about.

what Nyon said x 1,000,000.
In addition, remember the debt reduction fiasco of last year where a 12 member committtee was set up to look for areas where revenue could be raised and some spending cuts made? Well, the republicans in congress refused to go along with the President which is why the committee was set up to begin with. They failed to honor their mandate which means cuts to the defense budget will be automatically triggered beginning in 2013. In addition, the Bush tax cuts for the rich will end come January 2013. (For this to happen, it is important to reelect President Obama.) Now Republicans in congress (read Sen John McCain) are advocating for TRICARE prime to be cut for retirees above 65 years.

Could Retirees be Forced Off TRICARE Prime?

@ Lorene and Tricia,if you clicked the above link, POTUS and FLOTUS are not the enemy here. They are fighting to help the serving men and women plus veterans. It's important to note that FLOTUS is only a voluntary advocate for veterans not a politician, and as such, there's only so much she can do (read @ Nyon's post above)... yet there's no denying she's doing her best!!!
As for POTUS,not only is he CIC, but also head of the executive branch of governement, you are aware that government has three branches, right? There is only so much the executive branch can do without the help of the legislative and judiciary. There is more than enough proof, that POTUS is bypassing congress and doing all within his powers , forging ahead to sign executive orders without the help of a do-nothing republican congress (read @Nyon above again). You want POTUS to do more, then for goodness sake give him a congress (a progressive one) that actually wants to work with him to improve the lives of hardworking Americans(in and out of uniform) !!! Are you canvassing for votes, making sure people in your area are registered? November isn't that far you know and elections do have consequences (hello Florida, Wisconsin et al).......

Now back to FLOTUS' fashion :-)

Beautiful dress, beautiful colour, beautiful couple. I hope Mrs Obama wrotes a book of her first lady experiences one day. I'd love to read it.

Amen Nyon. Amen Joss.

Designer Jason Wu really has “the touch” when it comes to designing for our First Lady. When she is in one of his gowns, the entire tableau becomes a work of art. The elegance, the simplicity, the color….FLOTUS looks breathtakingly beautiful.

Our President is so handsome, as always.

My thanks to our Military service members and their families. God bless you.

Peace.
