Two Weeks in Review

Hi Friends! Thank you for all of the wonderful comments, and for being so understanding of my absence from the blog during my wedding and honeymoon. Many of you have been kindly posting links in the comments to Mrs. O's various appearances, but I thought we could all use a quick catch up of the first lady's recent events in addition. Mrs. O debuted a few fabulous summer skirts below, which I'll work to identify this week.

Hope everyone (in the U.S.) had a great July 4th holiday. While the wedding and honeymoon were quite magical, it's good to be back!

July 3: The President and First Lady Mrs. O returned from Camp David, where they spent part of the July 4th weekend. Mrs. O paired a fabulous green print skirt, featuring oversize stud trim, with a white tank, metallic flats and gold accessories. Her lime green tote added a final punch of color.

Update: Thanks to the always reliable chrystelle for informing us that the skirt is Comme des Garcons. A similar version can be seen here.

July 4: On July 4th, Mrs. O wore a fittingly patriotic ensemble, pairing a red, white and blue wrap halter top with white cropped pants and ballet flats.

Update: The first lady's top is Suno.

July 6: Mrs. O met with Mrs. Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in the Yellow Oval Room of the White House. I believe the dress is the same Narciso Rodriguez tulip patterned frock that Mrs. O wore on the campaign trail in 2008, also seen on the cover of the Mandi Norwood book "Michelle Style" here.

July 7: The first lady appeared at an event at the Treasury building, where Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner spoke at the economy and 2008 financial crisis. For the event, Mrs. O paired a white top and cropped cardigan with a fabulous metallic floral skirt. A thin silver belt at the waist and magenta heels completed the look.

Darn, I was hoping to be first to say WELCOME BACK. Hope you had a fun and relaxing honeymoon, Mrs. T.

Thanks for the compilation, Mrs. O has been looking really good! I loved everything she's worn in those pictures, particularly the outfit for the event at the Treasury Department, and the dress she wore while meeting with Mrs. Netanyahu.

Her return from Camp David outfit was so summery and perfect for the weather and the return.

First off, welcome back!!! We thought of you and hope you had a terrific time (maybe indulge us with a pic? :) )...

I am IN LOVE with the metallic skirt-just when I think "I think I've seen it all from Mrs. O" she surprises me. Wonderful! And it was beautifully paired off with the white cami/shrug and silver belt. Just lovely.

I really wish I had that ensemble hanging in my closet.

Also, Mrs. O looks great in the during Mrs. Netanyahu's visit (love the purple shade of her dress-god bless plumper women who don't shy from big color). But I have to say that what steals the show is the room with those flowers. Breathtaking.

As I also said on Twitter, welcome back!

I looked at the NY Mag lookbook while you were away and noticed an all orange suit that she wore that I don't think was featured on Mrs O (from June 11th):

Thanks all! I'm crazy about Mrs. O's metallic, floral skirt too. So curious to know who created...

Mica, I couldn't feature the orange suit as I didn't have photo rights. It wasn't available through my usual sources, and I didn't want to use it illegally...Just to explain why it wasn't included here!

Welcome back!!! I loved your wedding gown. Congratulations and best wishes for a long, happy and blessed marriage. Thank you so much for leaving suggestions for other sites while you were gone. Since I check in at least once every day or two, it was great to have another site to check.
I was still waiting patiently for your return. This is one of my favorite sites and thanks again for getting such wonderful pictures.

Welcome back Mrs. T! We missed you. I did a little Facebook stalking and spied you in that Soronen wedding gown. You and your husband make a very handsome couple.

The look coming back from Camp David was simply chic and perfect for the summer. And Sildi, I was taken by the flowers in that room too! The interaction of the ladies, the fashion, and the decor combine to make a vivid photo.

Welcome back Mrs T.

I love all the outfits but my personal favourite is the metallic skirt. I'm guessing it is by the same designer responsible for the metallic floral dress that she wore earlier this year. I believe the occassion was for disabled veterans though I could be wrong. Failing that it could be Rachel Roy. Either way, I love it and would love to be able to have it in my wardrobe.

I am loving all of Mrs. O's outfits, particularly the floral skirt and magenta heels.

I won't be the first to say "Welcome Back". But even if I'm the 99th to say it, let me say it anyway. Welcome Back, and I hope you had a wonderful time.

I think the First Lady look lovely in all the pictures, specially the one where she is sitting with the First Lady of Israeli and the outfit were she wore at the Department of Treasurey, I love them. I love the top she wore for the 4th. This lady just knows how to wear her style. Again Welcome Back. Are you tired of hearing that?

Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:08 AM | Unregistered CommenterAnniebella

Welcome Back Mrs.T. I hope you were able to relax and enjoy yourself. I adored all of Mrs.O's outfits or (creations) shall I call them. My two favorites were the Fourth of July outfit which in my opinion was smoking hot for a woman to wear a shirt like at her age and look that good is astonishing. My number two pick for the week would have to be the outfit she wore at the Treasury Department I loved every stitch of that outfit.

i'm currently listening to the First Lady keynote speech.

i think she is wearing Jason Wu Fall 09 dress.

Welcome back and congrats again MrsT!

After being at the hospital all weekend, I came home to find out Mrs. O was speaking live at 10:45, so I decided to stay up and listen to it. I am so glad I did! She is so inspiring! Her speech was fantastic! I am so moved by her childhood obesity campaign. Some have complained about her not taking on bigger issues, but they clearly don't see what I see everyday nor have they heard her speak about it. She is absolutely phenomenal.

Chrystelle- I couldn't really see the bottom of her dress in the video but from what I saw she looked beautiful!

Doc you are right.she looks beautiful.her emerald earrings were the perfect accessories. i don't know if it was because of the ligthning but i'm 95% sure it is this jason Wu dress worn on the runway by Karlie Kloss.Only the belt on Mrs.O looks bigger.

Welcome back Mrs. T!

Mrs. Obama looks so pretty! I especially like the mood the floral metallic print skirt evokes with the bolero/cropped cardigan and matching top. For some reason, while looking at this ensemble, it reminded me of the Painted Desert in Arizona...so's cool!

A BIG welcome back, Mrs. T! You were missed!

Mrs. O looked absolutely beautiful this morning in her address to the NAACP 101st anniversary convention. Great speech, gorgeous dress and fabulous hair!

Taken at the NAACP convention. This is not the sleeveless white and black Jason Wu dress she wore several times in the past (in London, in the garden at 10 Downing Street, for one).

Looks like it's one of Jason Wu's Fall 2010 "double negative dot" chiffons - though not like the ones shown on the runway or here:

We are sooooo happy that you're home Mrs. T. Welcome back and I hope you had a blast with all that your wedding had to offer!
I did get a chance to scope out our Michelle's outfits. I'm crazy about both of those skirts, especially the green one. That detailing going down the side is smokin', and topping it off with a plain white tee makes it so crisp. The metallic skirt is sharp and looks like it came from the collection by Barbara Tfank. It seems that there are pleats in the back of the skirt. I applaud her for being able to carry that one. My backside would look like a rooster's tail if I even thought about putting pleats on or near it. She, on the other hand looks so classy and healthy despite the demands that are made on her. I'm really proud of our FLOTUS!

Hi Mrs. T!

Welcome back!

I LOVE the lilac shoes and that great metallic skirt. Tom and Lorenzo's blog gave Mrs. O high points for her July 4th top and her lovely white dress.

Yes - your wedding gown was a knock out! Fit for a queen!

Welcome back! I missed you! I can't tell you how much I LOVE seeing what Mrs O is wearing. She looks modern, fresh, age appropriate, stylish, fun, arty, creative, interesting, different....all the good things about fashion without the ridiculous out there pushing the edge "let's give this a go and see how it flies" vibe. Just so love it!!!

All I'm going to say is that I need that metallic skirt in my closet RIGHT NOW. Also the little bolero.

I bought a lilac print skirt similar to this pattern at J. Crew in April. I love it. It is NOT metalic but I
got it out to compare on my screen and it is very similar. they are probably sold out at J. Crew but it was originally$110, I think.

Well Mrs T, it's GOOD to see you back. Congratulations on your marriage, my everlasting envy for your wedding dress (!) and I hope you had a wonderful honeymoon.

Of all the outfits in the above selection my favourite is the white twinset and metallic skirt. Very fresh and cool without being dull. She knows how to put the jump in classic. Wonderful.
