Mrs. O in Conde Nast Traveler

This is certainly the month of Mrs. O magazine covers! The first lady is also on the cover of Conde Nast Traveler for the month of May. For the article, "Mrs. Obama's Washington," click here. For behind the scenes photos, here.

Update: Per WWD, the first lady's pink dress is Diane von Furstenberg.

That is a beautiful picture of the First Lady. She looks relaxed and happy. I enjoyed reading the article online. It is lengthy but very interesting. I didn't know that Mrs Obama can do sign language. She never ceases to amaze me.

She also talked about returning to the White House at night when it is lit up and being in complete awe. That really tickled me. It's like living a fairy tale, "pinch me" moment. I'm immensely proud of her and all the good that she is doing for America. She's got to be the hardest working First Lady that I have ever known.

Oh God, Mrs. O why do you do this to us? You're so cute, so pretty, so smart, and so cool. Just keep doing what you're doing because it's working.

Love, love, love this sheath, with the little tie at the side. And this is a color to die for.

What a beautiful, smart, class lady! Mrs. O you just continue to bring so much life into every facet of your role as FLOTUS. The article is superb! I love the photos and the lovely, simplicity and elegance of this dress. Magnificent!

Love this dress! She looks so beautiful in it!

So in love with this cover. I think it's her best one yet! Love the dress, beautiful color! This plum/magenta pallete is my favorite color. Love it so much that I even used it for my wedding. Her hourglass shape looks so beautiful and her legs so sexy. OK that's it. This is my inspiration to go to the gym regularly. Curious to find out the designer of the dress. Love everything so much with this outfit that I will even overlook those pearls. This is such a wearbale dress and she will get so much use out of it.

Thank you!!!

I keep watching the video. I laughed when that lady kept touching the First Lady as if she was star struck and couldn't believe that it was happenng. I think it amazing the way Mrs Obama makes every guest feel special even if she's been doling out handshakes and hugs all day. Everyone gets the one to one, the beautiful smile and the little chat. Bo makes me laugh. He just had to be a part of it - too funny. I would have given my right arm ( well, I'm a leftie, really) to have been there.

Is anyone else feeling the pistachio coloured shirt and the blue skirt, topped off with silver ballet pumps ? Very nice.

Fun...flirty...fabulous!

She wears colors so well and a sheath dress is her best friend.

Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 5:33 PM | Registered Commenteravo

MY FAVORITE COVER YET! beats Vogue, and rivals Glamour for showing the real fabulous, happy, stunning, warm, personable Mrs.O!

The dress is the quintessential Mrs. Obama sheath and fits her as perfectly as any Maria Pinto frock would. With the magenta that pops and her radiant smile, the photo would have been great but the bow, the pose, and the lovely room make it stunning.

Absolute favorite. I think this one will be in textbooks along side the Naeem Khan dress to exemplify her style, grace, and personality the way Jackie Kennedy's pink Givenchy is shown adjacent to her in front of the Taj Mahal. Lovely, lovely, lovely!

Swoon, faint...girl crush! Fabulous head to toe. Love the pearls, the shoes and the bow tied at the waist on this vibrant frock! Love the slide show at the Conde Nast link Mrs T included.

Beautiful dress, great color, wonderful shoes!

Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 6:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterChristen

Now THIS is the Mrs. Obama who is so impressive and refreshing - a beautiful dress, with clean, slimming lines, tasteful jewelry, and pumps that make the outfit more stylish than what might be the "expected" look. She does not even look like the same person who wore the 3-piece mish-mash outfit yesterday that made her look 3 sizes larger.

Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 6:26 PM | Unregistered CommenterMrs. C

I'm going to go ahead a contradict my post about the GH cover. In this case, the pearls look smashing. Everything about this ensemble is fun, flirty and generally smoking hot. Do we think that's a bow at the waist? A simple fold-over tie? Help!

This has to be a favourite look for me - your first lady is divine. Mrs O looks like she's enjoying her role in life. Not sure if we will get to see the Obama family down under anytime soon but I would really love to visit Washington just to get a glimpse of Mrs O! Back to the cover photo, I love the colour and cut of the dress - I agree with 'iva' and 'avo' - this look suits Mrs O so well and her grooming and accessories complement her beauty and vivacious style.

Legs are the new “it zone” – pantyhose are disappearing and Mrs. O is way ahead of the game. When I look at her nicely shaped toned legs I’m inspired to get mine looking gorgeous. This dress is cut for her body and flaunts her gym toned curves. I like the fact that it can be worn day or evening. Love the tie at the side - so elegant. Thanks for the slide show Mrs.T.

The First Lady looks great! I'm so glad that the Obamas have opened the White House up to the public again. After 9/11, I thought I might never get a chance to take a tour. Now there is hope!

Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 8:22 PM | Registered CommenterStrong Foru

Beautiful. That shot was a great choice for the cover. So warm and inviting yet relaxed, as if she's sharing a laugh with you like a close friend. I also loved that navy skirt lime green blouse combo in the sideshow. Very cute. Oh and I really need those silver pumps in my life, pronto!

I hated the silhouette and odd pattern of the black and white skirt set but FLOTUS always lands on her feet with something hot! Love this look!

BEYOND BORDERS

There is something to be said about any individual who can transcend party politics, race and class and capture our hearts like Mrs.O does. Regardless of where she is, what she is doing or who she is with, she makes you feel included and this photo embraces the reader without even saying a word.

Mrs.O knows her body, and the colour and cut of this dress is divine on her.

Dress, pearls, hairstyle...cannot help but remind me of classic Jacqueline Kennedy. But the silvery shoes, relaxed pose, and wide open grin...it can be no other than the wonderfully unique Michelle Obama! This is a beautifully arranged and lit photo--seems to really capture the spirit of Mrs. O and her role in Washington.

Ahhhh - now we're talking the perfect look for our First Lady!! The mish-mash print combo of
yesterday is all forgiven! And yes, the prize for Best First Lady Legs Ever goes to......Mrs O!

So nice to spend a few minutes after a long hard day just taking a "peek" at what our Belle
Michelle has adorned herself with today, to make us all proud!

She is intelligent and elegant. Those shoes are great! And what a beautiful room too. How appropriate to remind the American public that the White House belongs to them. Very classy.

Okay, so when I see pictures like this where Michelle looks HOT LIKE FIRE, I wonder, what's going on with ensembles like the black and white one below? Because you cannot tell me that lady doesn't know how to look good -- look at her up there! She looks fabulous. Oh well, if folks were fabulous every day there'd be nothing to talk about.

There is a dress that is similar to Mrs. O's that I think all will love. I have it and love it. The actually dress is much cuter in person, but please let me know what you think of this Tahar dress for $98 at Nordstrom.

Mrs.T congratulations. i wanted to share with you that your website was mentionned in the french magazine L'express of which i'm a suscriber.
the exact quote is " there is still no official picture of the french first lady Carla sarkozy and her american counterpart.even the website to go about all things Mrs.Obama didn''t have the scoop"

and insideDFV twitter feed identifies the dress the first lady is wearing on this cover as one of their creation.

Fantastic article! Very interesting and detailed.

LOVE what she wore to meet the public, both the green (chartreuse?) and blue really pop.

But time like these when I read great articles really make me realize she is so much more than her clothes.

Hehehe, two days and my favourite magazine cover gets eclipsed by another one!!! This is amazing. HOW leggy?????! Even makes me wish I could wear pink... and that's no mean feat. Brava Mrs O.

Dr. P - It's a nice dress, love the hot pink. I don't think the model does the dress justice, though, that's a look for a woman with curves, IMO.
