A New Designer in the Mix

Michelle's RI Visit

The designer of this high-waisted pinstripe pantsuit has eluded us, but being one of Mrs. O's more frequently worn looks through 2007 and 2008, and reappearing again last week, we were determined to solve the mystery. It turns out, both the suit above and this jacket from the September 2008 cover of Ebony, come from the Spring 2008 collection of said mystery designer. See the answer, an exciting new addition to Mrs. O's style repertoire, after the jump.

Nice, but I was expecting it to be yet another unknown designer. She looks good in that Ebony cover and I know it is an old one, but I would love to read it.

The Ebony cover is beautiful but this pinstripe is a bore.

Wow - the First Lady wears McQueen.
Can it get any cooler than that ?
Thanks for the sleuthing Mrs T.

Very nice, I love that she wears McQueen. I noticed that she wears alot of designers that have afordable lines with Target like Erickson Beamon, Thakoon, Tracey Feith and now Alexander McQueen. Very interesting.

Oh, and Porenza Schouler too. Although their line with Target was a few years ago i think.

I don't like the high-waisted look on her...she's rather short through the body already.

I'm a huge McQueen fan! So as you can imagine, I'm thrilled to know she wears him too!

Mrs. O is a fabulous fashionista! She wears her clothes so well! Her body is ridiculous! Those long legs look great in skirts and dresses and her toned arms look amazing in sleeveless numbers. She's just fabulously fierce!

Goodness you are one determined blogger there Mrs T! Nice find. It's a fabulous suit and I loved the cover photo jacket as well - what an extraordinary cut. And McQueen!! Well, that about puts a lid on it. Mrs O's a style Queen, no mere style icon!

Not only is Mrs. O beautiful and stylish, she is so intelligent in her selections.

Any executive woman must have a pin-stripe suit. But her choice of Alexander McQueen is brilliant: it is far more fashionable than say, Brooks Brothers, and the connection to the affordable line at Target shows her awareness of the reach and social impact of her choices on the economy.

Bravo, Mrs. O!

Well my comment is this - what's with the sleeveless outfits in the winter time................at the congressional speach Tuesday night she had on a sleeveless dress and Miss Nancy had on a sensible winter business suit. I think she looked silly for GOD sakes its February.

Karen...Jackie O wore the exact kind of dress to the exact same event more than 40 years ago. So maybe you should expand your horizons. And maybe you should post that comment in one of the relevant threads.

Anyway, I have to sheepishly admit that I had no clue whatsoever who Alexander McQueen was... I guess I am not as sophisticated a fashionista as I like to think! But since you all were so excited about the name, I did a little Googling and came away VERY impressed. He actually has an online store which is extremely rare for a high-fashion designer--granted, everything is wildly expensive, par for the course. But the stuff is really gorgeous. And that pin stripe suit is certainly one of my favorite looks by Mrs. O.

Ok, I came out of my months of lurking just to say that Ebony cover is my fav Mrs.O cover eva! It really captures her: sophisticated, polished, open, poised, approachable and of course beautiful! Btw, love the site!
