Well said, "C." I couldn't agree more. I feel truly manipulated by this season's antics. From asking a non-star in Bristol Palin to be on the show, to all of the crazy gimmicks like "theme week" with rock and roll and tv shows, to changing the dance floor's shape, to never telling us who was in the bottom 2, this has been maximized to provide confusion and drama that isn't necessary for a dance show.

As a long time viewer of the show, I'm disappointed. They got their big ratings - apparently Monday's voting was the most ever - but they're losing a lot of credibility. But as you wrote, C, this is just anotehr message being sent out to divide this country, and I believe prepare us for the most divisive and slimy presidential election season we've ever had as a nation. (For those that haven't read, NY Times has confirmed that Sarah Palin is having informal, internal discussions about a 2012 bid - this is the most definitive she has been about potentially running). So, that means she's doing it, and the only way she knows how to do it is being nasty and divisive.

Anyway, I'll watch just to see Jennifer and Kyle, but I really don't think I'll watch again if BP wins. It's just not right to set up all the other contestants like that - they worked so hard and it's as if they never really had a chance.

As some of you know, I have not been watching due to that oh so sickening feeling that the fix is in. I cannot begin to stomach this charade that is being thrust down our throats this season. I heard about Brandy being voted off and then happen to see some footage of that "dance"(?) that little miss sunshine did and I truly wanted to hurl! I will not give DWTS or as I've started to call it, Dancing With The Stars & The Nobodies another moment of my time. Not this season or ever ! I don't care who they put in the lineup. It could have Denzel Washington along with Idris Elba, Terrence Howard, Hugh Jackman, Smokey Robinson and Rick Fox doing a repeat! They can keep this mess......stick a fork in me, I'm done!

The fix is in.

@ CID - ok, if they had a lineup like the one you listed...I'd be watching!!!! And VOTING! LOL

@ Bevi - that type of voting isn't new, actually. Remember the season with Helio and Mel B? There were fans of Helio and Julianne who called the team "Apolianne" or something similar. Anyway, they had their own website, and many of them talked about setting up numerous email addresses via yahoo and gmail and hotmail, and voting with those numerous addresses ALL NIGHT, tallying approximately 200-300 votes - from ONE person!!

I think what it comes down to is Bristol is a tea party darling due to her mother. We all know those folks are fired up when it comes to the issues they hold dear - one of them being Sarah Palin. They are single-handedly making Palin a millionaire ten times over. So I am not surprised that they'd devote the energy into voting numerous times, with numerous email accounts that they have no intention of keeping as valid accounts. I can't see any normal fan devoting that kind of energy, but I can totally see a tea partier doing it as they have shown themselves to be somewhat fanatic in their devotion to their cause.

CID, I'm definitely with IVA about watching that cast of DWTS that you named. AND I would record it so that I could watch it whenever I wanted.

These teapartiers are trying to send a message and I hope everyone is listening. If we don't, our country will be going to hell in a handbasket. I am mad that ABC ruined a good program to get their message out. They need to keep their politics separate.

What I can't figure out is why do people want a president that has a reality tv show. If Obama had a reality show, they would have crucified him. They already accused him of being a rockstar, but it's ok for Palin to have a tv show. Freaking Hypocrites!!! Let's not even go into the fact that she is dumber than a sock of rocks. I hate the day that McCain went to Alaska and plucked her out of her little world to wreak havoc on us.

"Dumber than a sock of rocks" is a great expression, Nyon, and unfortunately describes much of our country these days.

OK guys, you got me on that one! You know that I had to be stoned out of my mind with fury to even allow myself to say that I would not watch and support my Boo, Denzel. Good grief Charlie Brown, I'm sick of the Wasilla Hillbillies. I bet poor John McCain hates the very day that his campaign mismanager told him that the vetting was "excellent" for Peacock Palin. What on earth did the United States of America do lately that we would deserve them? It makes me think of the Quincy Jones song, "What makes you feel like doin' stuff like that?" Holy guacamole Batman!

CID, now I can't get that song out of my head!!!

As a Dirty Dancing fan - I LOVED Jennifer and Derek's freestyle. I have seen the movie enough to recognize the parts of their dance they took from the scene in the movie where she first saw Johnnie and the rest of the workers "dirty dancing." I love how she came out with the watermelon - reminded me of the line in the movie where she tells Johnnie she "carried a watermelon" when he asks his cousin why she's at their spot. Can you tell I loved their freestyle? LOL.

Kyle did a fantastic job re-doing his foxtrot..it was good. I liked his freestyle, although I don't know how much the viewers of the show will appreciate the tootsie roll..lol. I dug it, though.

I have no comment on Bristol, apart from the fact that I believe her favorite word is "haterz." She apparently feels she has many of them.

IVA, I just watched Dirty Dancing Saturday, so I definitely could tell the moves that were from the movie (I won't mention that I basically know every word in the movie as a result of watching it EVERY day when I was younger, LOL).

Both Jennifer and Kyle were DA BOMB .COM (in my Bruno voice)

Haha, I could hardly watch Kyle and Lacey doing the tootise roll for myself doing it. You know what I could never figure out is why they say the butterfly is old, let me see you tootsie rool, when they're the same dance. Is it because they add the "to the left" etc. into the dance?

Watching it on the internet is so convenient because I just skip over BP with no problem ;-)

I just saw some footage of Kyle's routine from last night and I must say that he's the one I miss the most. I enjoyed watching him grow into a dancer week after week. I sure hope that he or Jen wins tonight. I had to stop watching this show, it just sickened me and I doubt that I'll support it again. We'll see. But in the meantime, in between time, wake me and shake me when this is over! For the love of all that's decent and holy, I hope that little water pistol goes home first tonight!

Ladies, I haven't watched Dancing with the Stars until tonight ... oh my goodness, Jennifer Grey is incredible!

Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 11:09 PM | Registered CommenterMrs. T

and she's the WINNER!!!
YES!! Justice was served tonight. And to top it off BP came in third place (which is still too high, but it is what it is)

Well Ladies, I guess I will see some of you next season :-)

Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 1:23 AM | Registered CommenterNyon

Well, SO glad about last night's outcome.

Mrs. T - thanks for popping in! Yes, Jennifer is phenomenal, she's been rocking it all season, and showing all of us that 50 is the not the new 40 anymore, but the new 30.

Bristol was really snotty last night - her true colors came shining through. Kyle stayed gracious as ever and I am so happy he came in 2nd. All in all, this was quite a season. ABC played us all - inlcuding the Palins - since I don't think Bristol was ever intended to win now that I've seen it all play out. She was intended to make it all the way, bring in the viewers the entire time, and then like a cheap suit, be dumped on the floor. Seems like everyone used everyone, in the end. The Palins got more publicity, ABC got the viewers, and I guess we got entertained??? LOL. Let's hope they don't do something like this again because I really do enjoy this show w/o all the bells and whistles.

Well it does appear BP's true colors came out with her remarks. it is so interesting that this family spews out their hate rap when it is so clear that they are the haters. And they then couch it all under the umbrella of being God-fearing people.

I did not see the finale and so really have no room to comment - but that never stopped me beofre! Most of the people I spoke to were hoping Kyle would take the win. But we were played, as you said, IVA, and it really is disgusting. BP was going to stay put until after the elections, and she was going to make the finals. I find it interesting that her voting bloc could not get her the win, and I really wonder how fans of Jennifer and Kyle - who split their votes - still came in with the numbers to topple BP. So my assessment is the whole voting process is rigged, and ABC rightly concluded that
to crown BP the winner would pull away viewers permanently.

I'm not sure if folks are still checking out this thread, but I just saw this on the Today Show website, which I found interesting and believable as well.

Cho: Sarah Palin forced Bristol to go 'Dancing'

“Why did Bristol do Dancing With the Stars? I heard from someone who really should know (really should seriously know the dirt really really) that the only reason Bristol was on the show was because Sarah Palin forced her to do it,” Cho wrote. “Sarah supposedly blames Bristol harshly and openly (in the circles that I heard it from) for not winning the election, and so she told Bristol she ‘owed’ it to her to do DWTS so that ‘America would fall in love with her again’ and make it possible for Sarah Palin to run in 2012 with America behind her all the way. Instead of being supposedly ‘handicapped’ by the presence of her teen mom daughter, now Bristol is going to be an ‘asset’ – a celebrity beloved for her dancing. I am sure the show wasn’t in on this (but who knows anything really).”

After sharing her insider lowdown, Cho added that she’s proud of the younger Palin’s dance floor accomplishments regardless of the motivation. The only thing that concerns the 10th place hoofer is the possibility of reprisal for her decision to share the ballroom back story.

"Now I am scared I am going to wake up with a decapitated moose head in my bed,” Cho joked.

KNOCK, KNOCK. ANYBODY HOME?
Hey guys, are we doing it this season? Anyone got any favorites? As for me, none so far.

Hi CID, I'm here! Well, I just found out that DWTS started last night. I work during those hrs, so unfortunately I won't get to watch live. I'm going to watch it online so my comments will be late, but I'm defintely going to add my two cents. I haven't seen it yet, so I will come back and let you know if I have any favorites

I am here, but I missed the show last night. I heard that the Original Karate Kid stole the show? True or false? Just so thrilled there is no Palin on I cannot tell you!!

Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 12:45 PM | Registered CommenterBevi

Hey CID, Nyon, and Bevi!

I watched the first 3/4 of the show then got pulled away by my boyfriend who was getting really sick of watching...he did better than I though he would. He would watch last season, so I figured his interest would carry over - not quite!

Anyway, from what I saw, the Karate Man (not Kid any longer) was outstanding. He shocked me. He was light on his feet, he had rhythm, and he had stage presence. He's definitely a fave.

I also liked Hines Ward - he did a spunky cha cha.

I thought the Playgirl Kendra was pretty good for the ladies. Master P's son Romeo wasn't all that bad - definitely not his daddy.

I am thinking Wendy Williams won't last long. She was petrified, she looked it, her rather large body managed to shrink to the point where she was so reluctant looking. I felt bad for her.

I missed Kirstie Alley, who I heard was really good...surprisingly. The model wasn't so bad (Petra Nemcova?)

All in all there's no Bristol type that has you wondering WTF, so I think I'm going to like this season. Very excited!

With 11 pages, I think it's time for a new thread - exorcise the Palin nonsense of last season...
